MP Greg Aplin announces junior golf grant for Howlong

Member for Albury, Greg Aplin today announced over $87,000 had been awarded under the 2014 Sport and Recreation Participation and Facility Program to assist and upgrade sporting facilities and participation in sport across the electorate.

“Grants have been awarded to not-for-profit sports clubs and local Councils across the State” Mr Aplin said.

Howlong Country Golf Club is delighted to announce of that $87,000 they have been awarded $9,350 to install two new practice net bays at Howlong Country Golf Club which will be used to grow the successful Howlong Junior Golf Program.

Howlong Country Golf Club recently received a Highly Commended award in the Clubs NSW Clubs and Community Awards. Howlong received this award for their MyGolf Junior Program story in the Sport category. The Highly Commended Award in the prestigious Clubs NSW awards recognizes the contribution that Howlong has made to the development of junior golf across the country.

Adding to the award recognition the $9,350 grant helps to cement the importance of the Junior Golf Program and its significance in helping to boost community sport participation amongst the younger generation of budding golfers.

“Good facilities allow local sporting clubs to thrive and make it easier for everyone to participate in physical activity,”Mr Aplin said.

Mr Aplin said the NSW Government is committed to increasing participation in sport and exercise.  “Participation in sport and physical activity is one of the essential elements of a healthy lifestyle,” Mr Aplin said.

Howlong Country Golf Club General Manager said “We are delighted to have received this grant and are excited about the improved opportunities that will created for our junior golfers and members.”
