Fiji Rugby and Golf join forces for upcoming Fiji International

Fiji 7s team Captain, Ratu Osea Ramodi Kolinisau and Fly Half, Emosi Mulevoro will swap their rugby boots for golf bags and golf clubs as they kick off their Ambassador roles for the 2015 Fiji International.

The Fiji Rugby Union and Fiji International have joined forces to promote both sports in the country and increase development of the game across Fiji.

The Fiji International attracts world-class golfers from around the world and with only five weeks until the first tee off at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course, officials are finalising the course and event details to host the newest event on the PGA Tour of Australasia.

Fiji International General Manager, Natalie Ritter said, the partnership with Fiji Rugby, the largest sporting national body in the country, was an exciting venture.

“We look forward to the opportunity of working with Fiji Rugby to increase the profile of Golf and Rugby in Fiji and provide more fan activities for locals attending the tournament.”

Kolinisau and Mulevoro will make public appearances during the tournament week of the Fiji International from October 15th – 18th 2015. Spectators can look forward to meeting the two 7s champions at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course as well as enjoying a great day out at one of Fiji’s most stunning golf courses in a professional golf environment.

Kolinisau and Mulevoro will also be testing their golfing skills in the coming weeks as we lead up to the tournament and will represent both sports of Golf and Rugby in supporting the key focus on development and elite levels of sport participation across Fiji.

Fiji Rugby Union CEO, Radrodro Tabualevu said ‘We are pleased to enter a strategic partnership with the Fiji International, which is developing as one of Fijis’ largest yearly events on the calendar.  We anticipate our partnership with the event will deliver exposure to both Golf and Rugby in Fiji paving the way for a sustainable future for both sports in the nation.’

Having made his debut for Fiji in 2008, Kolinisau captained the first Fiji side to win the Dubai 7s during the 2013-2014 Sevens World Series. He also captained his team to victory at the 2014/2015 HSBC World Sevens Series

Fly Half Mulevoro is a man of many talents. As well as representing his country in the Fiji 7s team he is also a Naval Officer by profession and lends his skills to the Navy Rugby Club.

As the Fiji International gains momentum, with many sponsors securing their partnership with this major event, excitement and anticipation is building towards tee off on the 15th October at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course.

American golf star and World Number 14 Matt Kuchar has confirmed his participation in the $1,000,000 prize purse golf tournament.
