ParticipantNot sure if this belongs in this room, or elsewhere, so my apologies crew if it’s not correct. I’m sure the admin elves will move it if needed.
As the title suggests, I thought we could have a discussion about what golf clubs are doing and how they are going.
So to kick it off, my home track, Ocean Shores Country Club are going through a process of planning. To start, they did a member survey, with the results published on their website. For those interested, you can access the results direct here: https://www.oceanshorescc.com.au/
And, while I’m going, the club has published its Annual Report and Audited Financial Statements. Interestingly, it’s not behind a members only login and is available by direct link off their website here: https://www.oceanshorescc.com.au/
By the time you realise this part of my signature doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Success is the ability to go from one failure to the next without any loss of enthusiasm.
Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.
Meditation makes doing nothing quite respectable.

The Annual reports are public record for a club dependent on their business structure.
Planning is the key and getting member feedback and input is paramount. Sounds like they may already be heading in right direction!

ParticipantThe underwhelming strategic plan for Ocean Shores Country Club has been released.
Can be viewed / accessed here:
https://www.oceanshorescc.com.au/
I’m rather surprised at the action items and strategy. Very very basic. All things the General Manager should be doing anyway.
I think the club has wasted the money.
I agree a strategic plan is needed, but more robust strategy needs to be developed. Doing the same basic things is not enough.

ParticipantNice to have a proposed 9 year safety zone for the plan to show some areas of growth. Similar to Rossdale.. hahahahah.
Didn’t see too much in there in way of measuring objective milestones etc. For that matter, didn’t see any time framed objectives at all, pretty much a wish list. Over 3000 members and only 400 surveyed???? Bowls loses over twice what it makes and has done so for passed three years. Golf loses but nowhere near as much.
GM of OC should have a chat to the GM of Howlong.
