Big plans in lead up for Fiji International

A NUMBER of exciting activities have been planned to boost the upcoming Fiji International Golf championship to be held at the magnificent Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course in October.

Fiji International manager Harmony Thomas said there would be some interesting lead-up events being lined-up to boost the three-day golf festival.

First on the list is the arrival of the PGA of Australia Academy officials to train and educate local teachers and students.

“PGA Australia is coming to Fiji to train selected physical education teachers in Nadi and Suva as well as Fiji Professional Golf Association members in the techniques of teaching golf to students,” said Thomas.

“The training program will conclude with a super clinic where all participants will be able to put theory into practical in a Suva Super Clinic together with a number of selected school students.

In August the Fiji International volunteer training will be held at Natadola.

“Fijian sports lovers have a once in a lifetime opportunity to volunteer at Fiji’s largest sporting event —— the Fiji International and an inside the ropes experience for any sports fan.”

“Organisers for this year’s Fiji International are searching for around 300 enthusiastic volunteers to fill various roles that will assist in delivering this year’s tournament.

The pre qualification rounds for the main event will be held at the end of this month.

“Calling all Fiji Professional Golf Association members and Amateur (with handicaps five and less) golfers of Fiji to participate in this two-day qualification tournament to secure yourself a chance to play with the professionals of PGA of Australia, One Asia and the Star Players themselves.”

“The leading three Fijians at the end of the two rounds will earn this exclusive experience and play for the $1,000,000 prize purse.

Sponsors and partners of the Fiji International will gather together in an invitation only two hour educational workshop targeting at sharing information on the benefits of golf sponsorship and how to better leverage their partnership with an international professional golf tournament that offers a live broadcast TV platform both domestically and internationally to over 300 million households globally.

The brand association to sporting events like the Fiji International can earn great returns for partners if leveraged correctly.

The Fiji International school development program will also be held at Lautoka, Nadi, Natadola, Coral Coast, Deuba and Suva.

“Fiji International will be bringing golf to fifteen selected schools throughout Fiji to teach primary school students how to play golf with its My Golf program and kits.”

“Each school will host four thirty-minute sessions for three different age groups of primary school students between August and November this year.

“These students will also participate in the “Design the Junior Golf Fiji International Mascot” competition where the winning candidate will win FJ$500 once selected. The winning Mascot design will be announced at the Fiji International 2015.”
