Bringing Cheer to the Less Fortunate
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Gamuda and Gamuda Land Clubs brought festive cheer to the residents from the Malaysian Association of the Welfare of Mentally Challenged Children.
The centre, also known as IQ70 Plus, was established in March 2012 and has 44 residents, aged between one and 51, all mentally challenged children and adults.
They live with various disabilities such as autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), spastic paralysis, mental retardation, blindness and various learning disabilities.
The charity event, organised by Gamuda and Gamuda Land Clubs, is part of the club’s Corporate Social Responsibility which is also aimed to spread the joy of giving and sharing.
The management and staff from Gamuda, Kota Permai Golf & Country Club – a Golf Facility member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation – Botanic Resort Club and Jade Hills Resort Club ushered in the Chinese New Year, wishing for an abundance of prosperity and good fortune.
The management spent their morning with the residents, who were also entertained with magic shows. There was also a birthday celebration for the children who were born in February and a luncheon, courtesy Gamuda Land Clubs.
Tang Meng Loon, Group General Manager of Gamuda Land Clubs, said: “Chinese New Year is a time for togetherness and we want the less fortunate to know that they are not forgotten.”
