Different strokes: OGA exposing new generations to golf in Woodburn
Golf is not like soccer. Most of the differences between the two activities are plain enough to be obvious even to those who wouldn’t consider themselves “SportsCenter” junkies.
But in Woodburn, the differences go deeper than the size of the ball the two sports use or the attire one normally dons to play them.
In Woodburn, perhaps the biggest difference between golf and soccer is that few kids grow up playing the former.
In fact, according to Nellie Muir Elementary School physical education teacher Raul Veliz, aside from miniature golf and seeing the occasional highlight of a Tiger Woods fist pump on ESPN, most Woodburn children grow up without being exposed to golf at all.
