Empower Golf’s Ben Tullipan wins Service in Sport Award
Empower Golf’s Ben Tullipan has been awarded Gold Coast Bulletin’s 2018 Service in Sport Award for his tireless efforts in helping others and developing a welcoming disability golfing community. Ben was chosen ahead of a 100 nominations for the award.
Ben is Australia’s worst injured survivor of the 2002 Bali Bombings but survived his horrific injuries and fought to learn how to walk again using his prosthetic legs and his ‘never say die’ attitude.
In 2007 Ben took up golf as a form of recreation and rehabilitation and continued on to play in many amputee and pro-am tournaments.
After running a series of disability golf clinics, Ben met James from Empower Golf and has since been running Empower Golf in Queensland, arranging disability golf clinics and growing the game.
Ben’s determination and strength of character to triumph over personal adversity earned him a 2006 Pride of Australia Medal for Courage and he was awarded a Moncrieff Community Award.
Ben’s home course is the magnificent Parkwood International (Empower Golf Hub) on the Gold Coast where he delivers regular Golf Clinics.
Congratulations Ben!
