Foot golf tees off in Beaconsfield as clubs try to draw younger crowds

AT A time when some golf clubs are struggling to attract new members, a Beaconsfield club has hit upon a novel new way to draw a younger crowd.

Foot golf — a hybrid sport combining soccer and golf — is going ahead in leaps and bounds at clubs around Europe.

Now Victorians can see what all the fuss is about.

Cardinia Beaconhills Golf Links club manager Fiza Errington said the Beaconsfield club was the first in Victoria to offer the quirky sport, launching it last year in a bid to bolster membership.

Unlike golf, which took years to learn and hours to play, Ms Errington said players could kick off a round of foot golf in under an hour and she had seen children as young as seven enjoying the game with their grandparents.
