Golf at the Olympics is ‘fifth major’ for Jordan Spieth
Spieth, whose parents are Saucon Valley High School grads, says he considers golf’s return to the Olympics for the first time since 1904 like a major and plans to be among the four-man American team in the 60-man field in Brazil.
“I would expect to at least win a major championship and it’s exactly what Rory’s (McIlroy) been saying, that even in an off-year you want to be at least close to winning a major“.
“That’s not fair. I think this year we’re going to approach it as a fifth major and we’re going to prepare like it is and I’m going to go down there and try and take care of business”.
The Alfred Dunhill Championship starts what will be a busy season, with a number of tournaments re-scheduled due to the Olympic golf competition in Rio de Janeiro in August.
