Is the LPGA Tour going to get to play “Amen Corner”? Yes. Sort of
The LPGA Tour will open its season for the first time at the newly-created Coates Golf Championship in two weeks. It is also believed to be the first time a tribute course will host a major professional tour event.Eight of Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club’s 18 holes are copies of famous holes from around the world. Augusta National, St. Andrews, Baltusrol, Muirfield, and Troon are represented in the Ocala, Fla., track designed by Ron Garl.
Three of the holes were created in honor of Augusta National’s 12th, 13th, and 16th holes. Here’s a look at Ocala’s par-5 12th hole, which is a pretty spot-on recreation of the 13th at Augusta National, which ends the course’s famed “Amen Corner”:
