Junior Golf joins forces and sets new direction
Golf Queensland and the Junior Golf Foundation of Queensland have today announced the consolidation of their junior operations to form one united body for junior golf in Queensland.
The new operation, Junior Golf Queensland, will focus on developing a co-operative model to improve the resources available for junior golf development across the state.
“We’ve worked together for the past few years to achieve a positive outcome for junior golf,” said Golf Queensland’s chair, Peter Castrisos.
“The intention of this coordinated move is to continue to keep juniors at the forefront of industry growth.
“I thank both boards for working together, towards a strategy that will continue to ensure the future success of junior golf in the state.”
Charlie Earp, President of the Junior Golf Foundation of Queensland, also acknowledged the work both boards have done to create this positive change.
“It’s always been about the kids and ensuring they get the best possible opportunities to learn new life skills and enjoy the game for life,” Mr Earp said.
“The Junior Golf Foundation of Queensland is excited about the new chapter and seeing more juniors exposed to the benefits that golf offers.
“We thank our past advocates, including Greg Norman, and encourage everyone to continue to support the new direction.”
Mr Castrisos also announced and congratulated Mr Earp on becoming the founding Patron for Junior Golf Queensland and thanked him for his continued service to junior golf.
The rollout will begin later this year and all members of the Junior Golf Foundation of Queensland will be advised in due course.
