Junior Golf Qld Awards night celebrates our juniors
The 2017 Junior Golf Queensland Awards Presentation Dinner was held on Wednesday 15th November at Nudgee Golf Club. The evening is designed to celebrate and recognise the achievements of all junior golfers throughout the year.
The night was a huge success with players, friends, families, and sponsors coming together to celebrate another fantastic year of junior golf in Queensland. JGQ members Ben Stieler and Mackenzie Devine played hosts for the evening entertaining the crowd and presenting awards, while Teeran Kannan dazzled with his magic card tricks.
The prestigious 18 Hole Player of the Year Awards were presented to Cassie Porter (Peregian Springs) and Louis Dobbelaar (Brookwater) for their achievements in 2017.
Cassie has several notable achievements including the Katherine Kirk Classic Champion, IGA Junior Masters Winner for the second year in a row, broke the women’s record at Pelican Waters shooting 6-under, as well as setting a new IGA Junior Masters record of 277 over 4 rounds (11-under par). Other notable achievements include Champion of Champions Winner, Nambor Junior Open Winner, Mt Coolum Junior Open Winner, Maroochy River Open Winner and Noosa Open Winner. She was part of the winning Queensland team at the SA Junior Masters and Jack Newton International Hunter Valley under 15’s winner and Queensland joint team winner.
Louis is currently 322nd on the Scratch Players World Amateur Ranking (SPWAR) and holds a +3 handicap. For the second consecutive year, he is a Queensland Academy of Sport Squad Scholarship holder as well as a Cameron Smith Scholarship holder. For the past three years Louis has been part of the Queensland State (Junior) Team and this year was selected in the Queensland Men’s State Team playing in the Australian Boys & Men’s Interstate Series’. He is also the Jack Newton International Junior Classic Champion and Gary Player Classic (16-17 years) Champion.
The 9 Hole Player of the Year Awards were presented to Elly Petersen (Coolangatta Tweed Heads) and Ryan Argue (Mt Warren Park) for their achievements in 2017.
