Let’s fix golf

Bad news for golf fans – our sport is teetering. Those in the golf industry will have suspected for some time now that the sport is in decline, but numbers released from a survey into the US golf market are worrying. They show that not only are fewer people taking up the game, but even those who do play are teeing it up less often. The sport, it seems, is not attracting enough younger players and the older enthusiasts, no doubt affected by the global recession, are finding it difficult to afford or justify the high costs of playing the game. It doesn’t help that Tiger Woods, the sport’s most marketable player, has been out injured for most of last year.
