Victorian Ryan Lynch has won the WA Goldfields PGA Championship in a dramatic final round at the Kalgoorlie Golf Course.

Starting the day six shots off the lead, Lynch fired an impressive 5-under 67 in the final round to win the title by a shot with a tournament total of 12-under 276.

“I am on top of the moon. I am really happy to get the monkey off the back and get my first win,” Lynch said.

“My mindset today was to stay patient. I knew that I was playing well enough, if I could make a few birdies, I could climb the leaderboard.”

Victory didn’t come easy for the 25-year-old Lynch, who was tied with fellow Victorian Chris Gaunt when Lynch headed to the 17th, which he bogeyed, but Gaunt would go on to bogey both 17 and 18 to gift the son of renowned golf coach Dale the win.

Dale Lynch has previously coached some of Australia’s premier golfers, including Aaron Baddeley and Geoff Ogilvy.

Lynch said he couldn’t wait to celebrate the win with his family.

“I haven’t spoken to him (father Dale) since (walking off the 18th); I can’t wait to give him and my old lady a call.”

“He will be stoked and I dare say we will be having a couple of beers when I get home.”

For his win Lynch earns AU$16,500 in prizemoney, official world ranking points and full status on the PGA Tour of Australasia for the remainder of this season and the next two.
