Michael Jordan comes up with a rather expensive way to combat slow play
The athlete is reported to be exploring the possibility of building a golf club in Florida, in which members would be hand-picked by himself.
According to sources, Michael Jordan is famous for being a ‘lightning fast’ golfer, and one of his golf course will not tolerate slow play.
‘Jordan’s course ambitions have been fueled in part by his dissatisfaction with goings-on at the Bear’s Club, the Jupiter club where MJ is a member and owns a lavish home. Those sources say that Jordan has grown frustrated with pace of play at the club,’ said a spokesman for Sports Illustrated.
“Michael likes to play fast and he can’t stand it when people won’t let him through,” said a golf-industry insider who knows Jordan and who has spoken with several Bear’s Club’s members. “That happens enough out there that he’s gotten fed up.”
It is thought that Michael Jordan has secured the option on a plot of land in Hobe Sound, Florida, and he hopes to hire a top designer to create a world-class venue.
PGA veteran Brad Faxon said the plot of land Jordan is set to buy has the potential to be a top golf course.
“It has what looks like sandy soil but the land itself is flat and there’s none of the infrastructure you’d need for a golf course. If you did something there, it would have to be pretty special.”
“If it’s up to him, his foursome will finish in two-hours and 40 minutes,” a friend of Jordan is reported to have said.
According to Atlanta Black Star, Jordan would also likely to have relaxed dress codes at his own venue.
‘Jordan would institute a dress code that is less stringent than most private golf clubs,’ states the paper.
‘After all, Jordan showed up at La Gorce Country Club in Miami two years ago wearing cargo shorts, which was against the dress code at the facility.
‘Apparently no one noticed until he played a few holes of his round. On the 12th hole, Jordan was approached by club personnel who asked that he return to the clubhouse and change his pants.
‘Jordan refused. He was then was asked to leave the course at that point and to never return to the club. With his own place, Jordan would have no such concerns.’
