Alyangula Golf Club, nestled within the tropical setting of Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, is the winner of this month’s MyGolf Centre of the Month award.

Alyangula wanted to align with Australia’s national junior golf program to deliver a structured junior program at the club and subsequently signed up to MyGolf earlier this year.

“MyGolf is a great way for juniors to develop their golfing skills in a nationally recognised program and it is a great way to introduce more people to the game of golf,” said the MyGolf co-ordinator at Alyangula, Susanne Cullen.

Alyangula’s first MyGolf program started in term two and continues throughout term three because of club championships and course access. Despite the 10-week program being stretched across two terms, Alyangula has received a staggering 48 participant registrations – a truly fantastic result for the club and MyGolf in the Top End!

“The recommended activities and easy to learn drills are fun and give the children extra confidence to try something new,” Cullen said.

“The children display great enthusiasm and love the participant packs.”

Alyangula hasn’t got a School Holiday or term four program planned at this stage, but will continue running future MyGolf programs. The club has dedicated volunteers on the ground that will be ready to go when their next program is on the cards.

Susanne urged other active and potential MyGolf Centre officials that they should “not be afraid to ask for assistance.
Susanne, like many others, was unfamiliar with the process of setting up her program online and ordering the participant packs. So she called upon the MyGolf Team to guide her through the processes for the first time.
