Rangitikei Golf Club embroiled in promoting women’s golf

New Zealand Golf’s Love Golf promotional campaign shifts into a new gear during November with the “She Loves Golf” campaign which aims to encourage women to give golf a go.

The timing could not have been better with Lydia Ko making headlines for regaining the world No 1 spot.

Along with Lydia, New Zealand golf has other well-known ambassadors helping promote the campaign — Seven Sharp’s Toni Street, TV presenter Amber Peebles, TV sports presenter and radio DJ  Laura McGoldrick, and internet sensation Jamie Curry.

There will be events, promotions and offers in clubs and driving ranges throughout the country, all tailored for women.

Golf is an ideal sport for many women because it combines exercise and social interaction, and can be played by just about anyone, at any age, and any skill level.

NZ Golf explains that “She Loves Golf” is about letting women know  it’s okay to wear your gym gear on the green, play as many holes as you like and not keep score. Just get out there and have a go.

As part of this campaign within the Manawatu-Wanganui region, the Rangitikei club near Bulls is running a promotion which they have named “For the Birdies”.

This is a give it a go for women on Tuesday, November 24 from 10am to 1pm, and includes group lessons, closest-to-the-pin prizes, wine and cheese. There is no charge; just get your birdies together and head out and have some fun.

The event is sponsored by Rangitikei women’s golf and you can book or get more information from Elizabeth Kinloch, on 027.231.3435 or Bronwyn Meads on 027.228.7182 or 06.3221.434.

Other clubs that have started introductory lessons include Manawatu and Feilding, while Palmerston North will be starting early next year.
