Maybe we should be doing speed golf. It takes me around 50 minutes to play 18 holes – falls in under the 1 hour of exercise and could keep the golf courses open as long as you live near one. 🙂

as long as only 5k from home?

Sounds like that is no longer an issue…travel limited to the front gate?

That’s only for those who are required to quarantine at home, most awaiting test results, but also if positive. Now, if not found at home when the body checkers call, a $5k fine.

I like the lawyer down there that wants the statute of “Recklessly Endanger Human Life” used against those that breach the isolation conditions on two or more occasions. Carries 20 years. $5k 1st offence, then hit em with the criminal charge 2nd time around. Might keep a few of em at home.

50 minutes is pretty fast for 18 on a typical 6000m track

    World record = 44mins ?

5400m par 70 course. Usually shooting low to mid 80’s. Best time 52 minutes with 78 OTS = 130 Nett score.

does anyone know if green keepers are still allowed to work at the greater Melbourne contaminated zone courses..
green keeping is not really really essential service, and I know last time, clubs had to battle to retain the courses.
not mentioned anywhere, but then again haven’t heard clubs screaming.

Advise we are being given is a conditional yes, it appears that a skeleton staff can work to maintain the course to a level, but not the full staff.

All this sitting around at home is giving me the shits, even though this is a stage 3 area.
Too wet for carts on the course.
I might have to call a mate for a mental health care visit and we can share a bottle of red.

We were essential staff, Up here in qld originally, but I guess if they are shutting life down in Victoria, then, we aren’t…. it’s only turf anyway, We are trained to deal with abnormal growth patterns. I just applied growth regulators to everything when the shit first hit the fan in March

Any news on what Melbourne clubs are doing to support members, who have lost about 3 months playing time this year to this virus thing..

I have heard of some clubs considering a rebate,

What’s the risk to the health of the club’s finances if they give away 1/4 of their fixed income as well as their green fees in that time?

Am thinking if a club was to offer a rebate it may not be around when we come out the other side of Covid19. Most clubs are struggling to pay the bills as is, already without bar/golf/restaurant revenue for that period and then to offer a rebate on top would be lunacy.

Perhaps extending their next years membership to 15 months instead of a rebate. At least that would give the club a chance to budget for reduced revenue and provide incentive for people to stay a member in what will be considerably tighter times financially for alot of people.

Value add versus rebate or discount. BB has one possible scenario.

Survey your members to see what their sentiment is on this, let them know how the club is traveling.

I think my club has suspended payment for those with a monthly payment option. Personally, I’m happy for them to take the money. I want a club to come back to on the other side of this.

I’ve never had a flu vaccine injection. But with all the hoo ha earlier this year about coronavirus being terrible if you already have the flu, and being an old fart, I thought it might be the time to start the annual ritual. So I made an appointment with the doc, checking to make sure they had stock on hand. Visited the doc a few days later, “sorry we’ve run out of flu vaccine”. Another appointment a few weeks later to discuss blood tests and it was a repeat of in stock / out of stock. That happened four times so I gave up. It was projected to be a bad flu season with hundreds of old folk succumbing, but that didn’t eventuate. Covid got them instead.

Now, we have one of our chief medicos claiming that Australia is well placed to manufacture a covid vaccine, when one is developed, and very quickly get it to all Australians. Yet they can’t even do that with the regular flu vaccine. I know that if I call bullshit on the claims, then when a vaccine finally comes I’ll miss out yet again and have to wait until it’s no longer needed.

In the meantime, it’s good to see the covid numbers dropping.

Mouldy has been going to town against Comrade Dan’s management (or mis-management) on his facebook page. Now his posts are hidden and further comments disallowed. Perhaps Dan got some help from Trump to hide the dissenters?
