Can break 80
Participant91 days since I last played golf.
If lock down continues it will be 128 days total minimum .Already a number of members at my club have lost interest in golf and suspect there are many more in same position leave..
Planning my schedule for next year and looks like cutting game back to focus on around 15 to 18 tournaments. (for financial reasons as well)
Only playing those games and courses that matter to me, rather than routine weekly stfd comps.September 19, 2020 at 9:51 pm #13547OldBogey
ParticipantIt’s tough for those of you in the prison yard. Hopefully you will all be let out soon. There might be a revolution and the current government deposed.

Only playing those games and courses that matter to me, rather than routine weekly stfd comps.Sorry to hear that Geoff. That is an interesting point about “many losing interest” in the game.
Habits are changing and new ones forming.
Interest is at a high elsewhere as not much else to do, and a safe sport.

ParticipantCouncil owned golf courses – One thing I don’t understand is that Northcote Public course has been opened to the public during the pandemic. I went for a run past it and there were people everywhere having picnics, walking dogs etc. I don’t understand how we can have masses of people mingling on the golf course doing whatever they want but we don’t allow golf to be played under tight enforced regulations.

Participant2 days after I posted that vid. I lost my interest in golf and practice putting. I had literally put 2 my golf bags away, even my kids cant believe it. I cannot seen to have a burning passion and hungry to lower hcp. Other factors instability job, finance and now have to work longer for retirement.
I hope I will find my mojo back one day but I wont miss golf at all. For now my moto, “Just learn to live with Covid”. Cant be lock-down like this or future lock-down 3.0 or lockdown 4.0…..too painful for my mentality and sanity.
Carpe Diem

Hang in there Della. Yes it is a sham and a shame that you are unable to play at the moment, but the upside is that you will be able to play again. Imagine if you were unable to play at all because of some other unfortunate situation. Desire is a great motivator, self motivation is a stepping stone to greater desire. Never dwell on the negative because the positive is always better. The best thing my Psych ever told me and I carry it with me in every situation now… ” Every negative has a positive, no matter how small it may be. You just have to look for it and it will be there.” Believe me, it has helped me through quite a few scenario’s that before would not have been handled quite so well.

You always know you have this bunch of knuckle heads to talk too. Only a phone call or a keyboard away.

ParticipantThings are looking up. Not only are we back into 4 person groups playing regular comps, but now we can also share carts and have drinks afterwards. Ok, there are still some restrictions but it’s not too bad, particularly compared to our locked up brethren.

ParticipantRegional Vic and our rolling average is 1.1, unlike Melb who are still in the shit with 30 odd.
Went to a BBQ on Sunday, very pleasant, so was the weather.
This arvo it’s my turn to host our (now reinstated) weekly get together. I’ve been to the supermarket to stock up and, as usual, Aldi failed to have any of the advertised shiraz, but I have enough. And my robovac is busy doing the floors for me. I did the dunnies on Monday and only have the stove to polish up.Apart from having to wear the bushranger kit when I go out, life is pretty much back to normal. Can’t visit the kids and grandkids though (Melb).

I wouldn’t describe sharing a cart with you as things are looking up.
