ParticipantSo, anyway, apparently getting hit under the chin by surfboards and the dash / deck of boats over the years contributes to dental issues which can arise at any time.
Said time, being earlier today.
And, now, I am less one tooth and have one hell of an aching mouth, jaw, half side of head.
Bastards charged me the price of a new driver for the extraction.
By the time you realise this part of my signature doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.

ParticipantTooth recovery and rain dodging provided opportunity for a practice session late yesterday. ?
Wedges to targets were ok ish. Bit rusty as expected but generally felt ok. Few longer irons showed ball striking was ok. Driver was a bit erratic. ?♂️
Walked 2 – 7, and the erratic drive bit me big time. Went bogey, par then quad, double, par, double to be 9 over for the 6 holes. ?
Hitting 3 off the tee on the par 5 4th (after first went through the netting and onto a garden shed in the neighbourhood), I found it under a tree, behind the tree, so tapped out sideways for the 4th, then put my 3W wet. Dropped for 6th and put the 7th with 7i middle fairway, where a wedge put it for 8 to a one putt distance and putt for 9… ?
On 5th, a weird pulled hooky type drive (over correction from 4th) went wet, so hit 3 off tee with commitment and middle of fairway. 7i into middle of green, 4th, to leave a two putt double.
On 7th, I clipped top of tree off tree, and had to punch out, leaving about 170, which came up short after I didn’t allow for breeze. Sitting near green for 3, my chip up left me a chance for bogey, but two putt double ended the session.
Blue Marker Friday and I’m not confident with Driver or 3W… Course is wet under foot, with no roll at all. Good for knowing carry distance but not so for scoring well when it already plans long off the blue markers. ?
Need a couple more practice sessions!

ParticipantStood over every Drive today feeling like I had NFI….
But.
Somehow the mental game held up to let me shoot a 90 ots from the Blue Tees (slope 138, SR 74) at the home track today in what is known as the “Blue Marker Challenge” …
GA of 15.9 gave me a daily of 20. So, net 70 for a ‘played to’ of 13.1.
New GA of 14.8
Quite frankly I’m rather happy about the result today.
There was no run on the fairways due to recent rain.
There’s never an easy pin placement on these “challenge” days.
Greens were slower than I expected. Took a few holes to get the feel.
Need to analyse the round tomorrow because the post round beers are taking a toll on me ATM.

Don’t analyse, just enjoy. Once you analyse you will try and do the same and be disappointed if it does not happen. Leave it alone and just try and do what you did this round at the next. If you do, great./// If you don’t, who cares… try again next time.

ParticipantWaking with a dusty haze today, I’m reflecting on my goals for yesterday vs outcome.
Goals were:
– to only think about, concentrate on, the shot at hand and play each shot in a mindfulness type state.
– aim for bogey golf measured off course par.
– not let outcome or result affect my enjoyment.
Overall, I achieved those goals. I had a minor brain fade on the 4th when I chipped into the bunker (yep, I was thinking don’t hit into the bunker) and then somehow managed to send the bunker shot clean out over the green (I was thinking don’t chunk it). After those 2 back to back errors I caught myself and quickly regrouped, dropping the chip out of the long rough to an easy one putt from the flag.
From there on it was steady sailing.
The mental approach of playing par 4 as a par 5, so for me, that was thinking be on for 3 middle of the green and two putt, seemed to remove the ‘need’ to smash driver which in turn resulted in good drives and a chance at GIR despite the back tees.
Game improvement plan is on track. I’m now comfortable in my knowledge that I should be able to shoot a ‘played to’ of 9 even with my lower back issues.

And, the other thing was not thinking about or adding up my score until the round was over … Which I did!
Score started to creep into my head a few times, and looking back, it’s around those times I lost focus on the shot at hand… Thinking more about the score for that hole though, rather than the round…
I did think coming in on 15, 16 about the likely score but had NFI and stopped myself adding it up or looking…
One other thing I was testing was the mental aspects in my PSR. of thinking about the shot, shot shape and visualisation of the shot in the air. When I did it clearly, I had good shots, like really good shots. On reflection I did it more so on tee shots. Need to bring that into my game more.

ParticipantAs alluded to in the GC Friday social round thread, my caddie and I both have some sort of illness.
Mate stayed with us on Thursday night, he’d flown over from Perth on Friday.
Daughter called me from school about lunchtime, feeling unwell. She had bit of a temp, slight sore throat, headache and just felt flat.
Over the weekend I started to feel the same. Mild sore throat, mild temp, headache and just flat, meh, feeling.
We’ve been resting. Staying hydrated. Etc.
This ‘bug’ feels weird. Whatever it is, it’s not like a cold. No runny nose, no sneezing. Odd dry cough.
I contacted covid-19 health line. Basically got told ‘suck it up”, we only test known contacts. Interesting to see WHO came out overnight and told authorities they need to do more testing. I suspect what we’ve got is it, but we’re mild symptoms. But, my wife doesn’t, so she is off to work. So, without proof, how do you convince people?
Look, we’re ok. Mild symptoms of whatever we’ve got. But, if the throat gets worse or breathing gets impacted, I’ll be getting to hospital ASAP.
Stay safe everyone.

ParticipantYeah take care mate
Cheers weeti.
Still alive. I just have mild symptoms.
The caddie just has a really bad headache and obviously flat.
Unconfirmed (as yet) rumour a covid-19 case had been traced to the caddies school. Hoping to learn more today.

ParticipantRumor confirmed. Covid-19 impact at the caddies school … mother of a yr12 student got it from a confirmed case. I understand there is a few days between, when mother and case had contact and when case got the news, so mother has been infecting her kids, house, friends, etc. and kids have taken it to to school.
We’re still ok, mild symptoms. Caddie is no just fatigue and headache. Mine is still mild sore throat, headache and fatigue however my glands in neck, and neck, very tight and sore today.

ParticipantMarch 19 … July 19 … well, what’s happened?
First, was the round with the L4G crew at Sanctuary Cove yesterday, in which I managed 31 pts to my surprise. In context of one round of golf two weeks ago at a country track (Kew Country Club) for a very social round, and prior to that not even touching the clubs for 6 or so weeks. With the challenge and undulating greens testing my lack of short game, I was generally surprised that I managed to get off the tee ok, but equally disappointed in chunking fat easy shots into greens.
I had a hiatus from golf due to illness / injury. The ‘bug’ didn’t get me, by a bout of Strep Throat followed by Rheumatic Fever did, and with it some inflammatory issues in knees, heel and as it turns our neck and back. Combined with a perfect timing of decisions to paint the inside of our house during ‘lockdown’, and well, golf as been a distant interest.
That’s now changing with my usual ADHD approach to hobbies etc … with now a lead up to the local Pro-Am on 11th August in my sight, and with it, some more golf practice; on course and short game the focus. The thing I found yesterday, is if the driver is OK, I can get up to and around he green OK, but need to get up and down much better. I also need to work our the PSR to stop the fat ugly shot that robs me on approach shots at random intervals.
After yesterday my GA is still 14.8.
