ParticipantGot out of Melbourne yesterday and headed down to Portarlington for a game. Course is in great condition my game not so good. Had a major case of the pull hooks. I reckon I missed the first two par 3’s by 20-30m left of the green. Anyway something that I don’t get to say often is that my putting saved me, only one 3 putt (for par) and numerous 8-10 feet putts holed.
7 over 43 on the front, 6 over 42 on the back. Gave me 85 OTS 74 nett could have been a hell of a lot worse given how I hit the ball.
well done, a respectable score indeed on a different course.
Dont forget the object of the game. its not to hit pretty shots, its to score the lowest number you can write in score box that counts.Loved the fact that I was out playing given that there has been so many weeks missed. It’s funny though – I actually get more satisfaction from hitting the ball well rather than scoring well. But maybe that is just me.

ParticipantStroke at Warra today.
Only played half the holes to my handicap, shame about the others.
Gross 99 – very gross.Beautiful conditions, with less wind than yesterday. Fairways have recovered from their winter dormancy and the greens were very slick. We all (in our group) suffered from too many 3-putts.

Not all that bad you have broken 100 for last 12 rounds in a row

maybe time to move forward to red tees to increase your confidence in game until you can break 90, sure you will be off 14 but its a good way to get your game back in shape, then go back to the blues when you are breaking 90 regular basis.

On many holes the reds and whites are together. We don’t have a red tee comp for men.

That 99 was a stroke round. I had a 9 on the par 4 16th.

ParticipantStab at Warra today. Only two 3-points, too many 1-points, one wipe.
13&15 = 28 points

KeymasterPlayed an aggregate 2 ball stableford at Finders GC on Monday. Low course rating had me off 8 and my partner off +1. We both had 14 on the front and 19 on the back for 33 each and 66 total. Ran 3rd as the winners had 69. Won 3rd on a countback…..wonders never cease.

ParticipantStab at Warra while the good golfers played their clubbies knockout rounds (finals tomorrow).
Front nine wasn’t too bad with a wipe on the no-shot 6th hole, but two pars and 16 points.
Back nine did not go well with two trees catching and keeping my balls, knackering my score. But I also contributed heaps of other rubbish for just 10 more points.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

ParticipantNine holes around my old stomping ground of YVCC. Sad to see that while the playing surfaces were great there has been no maintenance during lockdown of the garden beds, hedges, tree limb clearing etc. Indicative a club running out of money.
Struck the ball well, hit greens (5/9 GIR), 1 x 3 putt, 6 pars and 3 bogies for 39 OTS. Room for improvement with a 3 putt bogey and a stupid bogey on the last from A1 position off the tee. 1 legit bogey where I found trees and had come out sideways.November 22, 2020 at 12:39 pm #14290OldBogey

I used to be involved in the golf committee there. Always tough to get management to spend any money there beyond the poker machines. I imagine it has just got harder lately. It was really disappointing to see things like the tennis courts there with weeds growing through it etc. Hopefully they can get things back on track and present the course and facilities the way it deserves.
