Golf shop staff were invited to pay in a Members special event yesterday at Elanora. 14th hole Shotgun start from the Blue Tees, for me, which I easily wiped. 2 points followed by a one pointer on the next two holes left me 3pts after 3 holes and was in trouble. Finally clicked into gear with a par and bogey to move on to the front nine where I finally found some form. Managed 20pts there with 2 very ordinary 1 point holes on 4 & 5, holes that I normally par in my tes…practice games. Any way managed to recover the lost points needed to get back to even 2’s on the back nine to finish on 38pts. Following on from my 37pts from the Blue Tees last month I’m not too unhappy…losing 1.2 shots from the 2 rounds, now down to 14.7…a place I haven’t been in just over 2 years. I think I’ve worked out what I have been doing wrong, next months Magenta game will be a real test.

    Stab at Warra today.
One point per hole on most of the front nine: 9 points.
Back nine was better with 17 points.
    Total: 26
Drives were mostly good but shit happens.

People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.
No championships worth mentioning in recent years.

My last 7 rounds in GL were all in the 20s (points). Until today.
    The usual stab at Warra.
Started with two 6s (most holes are par 4), then two 5s, then two 4s, two 5s (par3 & par5), two more 4s, then the pattern broke.
18 out, 22 back for 40 points. That’s been a long time coming. All up, three doubles, seven bogeys, eight pars.

I would like to think that I’ve ‘cracked it’ for consistent drives, but I just know that Saturday will be back to normal.

Thursdays are usually a small field (57 today), but it looks like I’m in the money.

Sounds like your inconsistency comes down to the mental aspect of the game and what it does to your confidence. Bit like myself actually.

Well done OB a good score from you today at Warra. Looks like you won the comp.

warra was in great condition with nice grass cover on fairways and fast greens.

Dancer (host member) had 30 points with 3 outs. trouble in sand, but hit lots of good shots
Fehan has 22 (off 4) lots of tee shots in trees.

I managed 29 points = 17 front 9 including at tap i n3 on 4th hole (3for 4) with an out on 9th after I tried to hit a hero shot over trees.
played bogey golf all back 9 until 17th when i took 4 to get down from off back edge for a great 7. 12 points back.

broke 90 and game appears to be on mend but putting needs some work after 4×3 putts
playing again at Langy on Sunday

4BBB stab at Warra today, president’s vs captain’s.
My partner and I had 44 points. There are three 48s, three 47s, three 46s and a heap of 45s ahead of us, with most scores in.
On countback, we’re coming 22nd, so will be lucky to gat a ball.
Personally, 33 of those points were mine, although I would have had more if individual scores. Two 4-point birdies, five pars, so happy with my performance. We both wiped the index-18 6th hole.

Another round f what could have been, 35 points at Rossdale off 15, that makes my last 5 rounds , 34, 35, 36 34 35. And all have at least 2 wipes. Just need to get the bad errors out of my game

I played my first round in a while which included swinging a club for the first time in a while.
Hit a wedge on the par 3 1st a touch thin and it went out of bounds long.
    Wash
Smashed 3 wood with draw that took a wicked kick left into the dam.
    1 point
Smashed driver, chipped up and three putted
    1 point
Smashed driver along the right hand side.
Couldn’t find the ball under the leaves.
    Wash.
I was two points after 4 holes.
The greens had been cored recently and weren’t as brilliant as Piney greens always are and the overall course was as sad a condition as I’ve ever remembered seeing it, it was a real shame for the team.
    Finished with 30 points.
The best thing about the day was exactly what I had hoped it would be.

We did get a ball each.
13 of the scores were mine, 4 were partner’s, and that wipe that neither of us scored.
The system handicapped me at 39 points !!!!!!
Mystery 6 (6 randomly chosen holes, best score wins). All 4 of partner’s scores were credited. That left only 2 of my 13. It’s a bastard system.

A lovely sunny Sunday afternoon game at Langy with a client, and his mate. we had a nice business meeting on way round.
lots of wind blowing to make course play just that little bit longer even off white tees.

happy with my game today, hit lots of quality punch shots into greens and 5 punch drivers into wind. just chipped the ball around the course .
love the punchy chippy shot, ball goes low under tree line and with good power and control in cross winds
showed my client how to hit that shot and his game improved as he wasn’t fighting wind anymore with high ball flight off tee..

Langy was in terrific condition, even after heavy showers this morning. The greens were not usual terrifying speed today, and left myself a lot of 1 to 2 m putts, good thing is I made almost every one of them, a change from Warra, where I got a bit jabby in stroke. Did a session on putting mat with blast motion device after Warra game and seems to have smoothed my stroke out a bit.
didn’t keep score, focus was on hitting shots and playing the game plan. a fun day, and we had a great game.
Both guests enjoyed the course and will come back again before Christmas.

Hope you smashed a few Bundies post round as well. Yep, best part about any golf game is the company you share it with. Well, most of the time anyway. I assume that is what you are talking about.?

It could be the last good day for golf this week weather wise. Our course is closed for maintenance, so I travelled to Heywood for a practice game. I took my wife’s clubs and really enjoyed playing with them. I was too lazy to travel the 15 km to pick mine up at the golf club.

The weather was fine in the mid 20’s with only a light breeze. The course had dried out after the 30 mm of rain we had on Saturday. The fairways were nice and fluffy, a bit light the River Murray courses I have played. The ball sat up begging to be hit.

I played 2 ball best ball on the front 9 and two ball worse ball on the back 9. I was using the 44.5 inch Nike Vapor Driver and I missed only two fairways. It is shorter off the tee than my Driver, but accurate. I compared the 7 wood to the 22 hybrid and found little difference in shot distance. I still love the Cleveland HB Launcher irons. They are so easy to hit well. I used the Arc Master putter to good effect today, only three putting on the last hole. I am going to claim fatigue was the cause , but I was sucked in and failed to read the slope accurately.

I want to be player B , the one who hits the perfect 2nd. shot, not the crappy shot first.

The scenery at Heywood was good and the wildlife plentiful ( Koalas, kookaburras, Wallabies etc)
