Stableford at Green Acres yesterday. (Never played there) A tight tree lined course that needs accuracy off the tee. A low course rating so my GL 9.6 translated to playing off 9 for the day.

    Front 9 – 20 points ( 2 over 38 OTS)
    Back 9 – 18 points ( 5 over 40 OTS)

38 points got me a 3rd in A grade and a NTP. Drove pretty well with about 12 FIR and 10 GIR.

An enjoyable course that I would like to play again.

I played my first round in a while which included swinging a club for the first time in a while.
Hit a wedge on the par 3 1st a touch thin and it went out of bounds long.
    Wash
Smashed 3 wood with draw that took a wicked kick left into the dam.
    1 point
Smashed driver, chipped up and three putted
    1 point
Smashed driver along the right hand side.
Couldn’t find the ball under the leaves.
    Wash.
I was two points after 4 holes.
The greens had been cored recently and weren’t as brilliant as Piney greens always are and the overall course was as sad a condition as I’ve ever remembered seeing it, it was a real shame for the team.
    Finished with 30 points.
The best thing about the day was exactly what I had hoped it would be.

Correction, I had 31 points all up. So that must have been something like 4 over in the last 14 holes.

But still, the best part was being in the cart next to the Rusty Old Man

Next game, TBA. Probably not this year, but one day soon enough.

The usual stab at Warra today.
Started with three doubles, then three pars and finished the front with three bogeys: 17 points.
Back nine was all over the shop. The rain came down when we hit the 13th. I don’t like rain and wiped 13 & 14. One double, one bogey, four pars, one birdie. 18 points.
Total of 35 points. Coming 35th out of 120, unlikey to get a ball DTL.

After I whinged last week that my last 20 scores had few scores in the 30s and I hadn’t cracked 30 for the last 7 rounds, I’ve had a considerable turnaround with a 40 point, a 4BBB 44 point (handicapped as 39) and today’s 35. So I’d better pull my head in now.

At least it wasn’t raining like it was at Royal Pines.

How many putts did you have (not including your putts from the rough)?

    Stab at Warra today.
Front nine: one wipe & 3 doubles for 13 points.
Back nine: one wipe, one double but a couple of pars to help get to 16 points. A couple of 3-putts.
    Total just 29 points.

Perfect golfing weather – fine & mild, barely a zephyr of a breeze, no-one holding us up or breathing down our necks. No excuses.

    MM stroke at Warra today.
Except for one hole, I pIayed reasonably. One par, three doubles, one Bo Derek.

The 5th hole is a short, level par4 with no bunkers. But there’s a road down the left side and a gully along the right side. My first drive went nicely up the left side but my ball took a sharp bounce left and through the fence OOB. Second drive repeated the first, bouncing through the fence. Third drive was deliberately pushed right but nestled against the trunk of a huge cypress with the only option being a chip onto the fairway, for 6. Hit up the fairway for 7, on for 8 and two putts.

    Nett 80.
