Veterans’ golf resumed today, conveniently playing stab at Drouin. Drouin is somewhat longer than Warra with a heap of par5s and long par4s.
Shotgun start from the 6th, I had three 1-point and a 2 point on the front. Back nine had a wipe and some 1s but enough 3-points to garner 17 points. Returning to the front I had a 4-point birdie on the 1st but also a wipe and too many 1-points for another 15.

    Total: 32 points.

Second in A grade was 37 points which suggests it might have been a bit tough out there, with showers rolling through. But C grade was led by two players with 46 points. The course was in excellent condition although I found the greens a bit slow.

    Back to Warra tomorrow.

we will have to better line up the Vets games so I can come and play some West events, the venues which are closer than some of the South ones.

Our next event is at schitt creek in Jan.

I know that creek. Been up it a few times.

Since when is a 330m hole not driver, lob wedge, ever?!?
That’s the play every single day of the week

Probably when the golfers age is close to par.

    Stab at Warra today.
Front nine was characterised by nearly all 2-points, except for 1 wipe and one 3-point. So, that’s 17 points.
Back nine had no wipes but a heap of 1-points for just another 13 points.

Off the 13th tee, I belted a ball straight into a gobbler (pine tree down to the ground) and had to re-tee, but still managed a 1-point. Happy to achieve the recovery.

Played a 2 ball multiply (Stableford) at Gardiners Run yesterday. Playing off the white tees and the low rating had my 9.1 (G/L) convert to a 7 handicap for the day. I paired up with another lefty who was playing off 6. Par for the course is 72. The scoring was multiplying of each players stableford score….i.e 3 x3 = 9 for the hole. I kept my score on my GPS to see how I was travelling……..we hit off the back 9 first…

    Back 9 – 20 points (37 OTS) 1 x birdie – 14 putts
    Front 9 – 21 points (37 OTS) – 14 putts

    FIR – 9
    GIR – 10
Sand saves – 3 (One from a fairway bunker)
    Par or better – 15
    Putts – 28

And that…….ladies and gentlemen…..is my BEST EVER score since I took this game up over 40 years ago.

As for our combined 2 ball score – 95 odd. About 10 points in front of second. We had about 7 – nine point holes and only wiped one hole when my partner had 3 in the bunker on the 3rd hole

Well done Francie. Are you going to join the club there so you can do that every week?

Wouldn’t mind as I generally play ok around there. I must admit conditions were pretty perfect but not sure I want to travel an hour each way all the time.

Nup….not golflinked Commish…..as we were playing a teams event and individual cards weren’t completed. 🙂 A little like Barneski manipulating the system. 🙂

My bad. Home track comps are always a single stab with either a 2bbb, 2bAgg or 2b multiplier in conjunction.
Hopefully, there is a repetitive repeat effort into the future. Maybe when you go on permanent hols????

Stableford around Beaufort GC. Had an absolute shocker, as an old fart I probably shouldn’t be going to the cricket nets the night before with a few mate. Took 9 holes to loosen up and stop taking divots an inch behind the ball. Par 3’s were awful 9 over for the 6 par 3’s. Total of 27 points and had to struggle and hole some putts to get that – definitely in the bottom half of the results for the day.

Yep thanks Commish. I’m hopeful to put a few good rounds in the summer cup in January. I’m on leave and they will be my next comp games. Still got a few years before I’m permanently on holidays.
