Well done Schmucko… I doubt you are at the ‘shuffling’ stage just yet. 33pts around Penno aint too shabby at any time.

Participant37 pts on Sat at the Frog (22+15)92 OTS – enjoyable front 9 and a tired back with overall good ball striking.
Frog rough the toughest I had seen it and was expecting a very long day, but the driving iron behaved and kept me in play.4 users liked this post.

ParticipantOldies’ nine hole at Warra this morning. My handicap (they do it differently) had crept out to 22, which gives me 2 shots on two of the holes. You’d think I could do something worthwhile with that, but no.
Two 3-points but three 1-points for a 17 total.
So, I’ll be out to 23 for next time – 3 two shot holes. I won’t know what to do with them all.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.
No championships worth mentioning in recent years.

ParticipantThe usual stab at Warra today.
Front nine wasn’t too bad with 17 points and no dramas.
Back nine started with two wipes and another on 15 for another 13 points.

ParticipantSaturday, SLGC. 18 out and 15 in, just couldn’t get it all together. Great day with my regular crew.
Monday, Vets at SLGC. Shotgun start, Started on the 2nd, one of those days, never seemed to hit a good drive (one great one for the day), second shot seemed to be hit or miss, chipped close quite a bit and made some putts. 17 out, with a hole to go. 21 coming in, followed by a 2 on the first to finish the day, 40. It just never felt like it.
Beaten on countback, had to go back 8 holes, really fun day with a few friends.
Sometimes you feel like you are going well but not scoring.
Monday felt like I left a lot behind but ended with 40
Golf, go figure

ParticipantI had a few hours to kill while my Ute was being serviced in Mt.Gambier yesterday. Conditions looked more reminiscent of Scotland than summer in Oz; cool and misty rain. The course was in excellent condition. It has a slightly hilly nature, with many uneven lies as a result. Being a green fee player I was required to hit off the forward tees. What a pity! Not! I Scored an 80 round. Perhaps I should use her clubs in competition?
I was using my Wife’s clubs because they were in the Ute. I look at it as cross training. It has been an eye opener for me to see how well these Super Game Improvement irons perform. The Cleveland HB Launcher irons are very forgiving of poor strike. For example, I hit a shot heavy/fat and then repeated the shot perfectly. The difference was the perfect shot reached the back of the green and the fat shot ended just short of the green. If I had done that with my CB one length irons the result would have been a lot less forgiving.
I used a 14 degree mini Driver( GX7) off the tee and only missed the fairway on the 18th hole ( pushed to right rough) . The 7 Wood ( TM Burner 21 degree) is a really nice club to hit. I used a chipper for shots inside 50 m and C3i 65 wedge to escape bunkers/ short sided situations near the green. I used another putter ( third one this week) and managed to putt well, which indicates my method has improved.
End result: I am impressed with hollow bodied irons. The only thing I was not happy about with the Cleveland irons is that they are draw biased, making fades harder to manage, but I guess they would be ideal for slicers. I think my wife needs a 5 wood in her set ( for me to use??) to reach the greens on the longer par 4 holes

ParticipantStab at Warra yesterday.
Scattered a few drives, waiting on every hole for those in front didn’t help. I felt uncoordinated.
On 2nd hole, hit the big cypress on the left, took out a magpie with 2nd shot, down the hill for 3, back of the green for 4, then on and missed the putt for a wipe. Ran out of shots on 6 (index 18). Good drive, then bunker, flew the green, on for 4, missed the putt.
All the rest were ones and twos (points) with nothing noteworthy.

ParticipantStab at Warra today (what else?).
Most drives were straight today, for a change.
No wipes, three 1-points, five 3-points, = 38 points.
No money, but a ball dtl should be forthcoming.
And it will trim some more points off my ‘cap.

36 points is a very good performance IMO.
For me, < 30 is a bad day on the course ( like my annual school report card, ” could do better if he applied himself”) , 35 is a very consistent day, > 35 is a very good day at the course,>40 the Golf Gods were on my side.
The good thing is that you scored well, but felt you still had some potential left in the tank to do even better. Well done!

ParticipantSLGC. Stab. Perfect day for Golf. playing off 18
Started well, 21 points after 8 holes.
From there on it was a train wreck, played the next 10 holes for 13 points.
Total of 34, new flag, should be happy but after a hot start, left feeling a bit Flat.
A highlight from the day was a Birdie of the par 5 third hole.
Good drive to the middle of the fairway, not overly long.
Second shot pulled left to be just off the fairway and 114m out.
Third shot bladed my 9 iron, looked like it was going off the green but pulled up 4 feet from the pin
Made the putt

ParticipantLang Lang Saturday. 27 points . consisted of 4 par, 6 bogeys and 8 doubles. 34 shots to get ball inside 100m. 56 more to get ball in hole from there. greens were good course excellent. work on short game needed over Christmas break.
Sunday played in the PGA Super 6 amateur qualifying at Warragul. course in good conditions and greens were nice to putt on.
91 OTS net 81..
4 pars, 8 bogeys 6 DB. process good ,a few bad bounces sideways from middle of fairway. putting inconsistent 38 putts.
34 shots to get inside 100m. then 57 to get ball in hole.
The games showed me how I need to better prepare for events, hitting a medium bucket of balls on range on Friday afternoon, gave me the result I got.
These were my last competitive game for 2020, which has been a poor year all round business wise and golf wise. In process of moving house, so no practice until mid January. Game schedule for next year prepared and will be more focussed for first event at end of January.1 user liked this post.
