    MM stroke today.
Started ok but it went to crap on the 5th when my tee shot nestled beside a boundary fence post. A backhanded knock away from the post just put it among tree roots that needed another backhander to get on the fairway. On for 4 and 3 putts for a 7.
Then on the 6th (index 18) on for 2 but the ball rolled back and into a bunker, then flew the green to the high side for 3. A bladed wedge sent my ball back into the aformentioned bunker, on for 5 and 2 putts for another 7.
The rest of the round was ok, finishing with a 90, less 15 for a nett 75.

Stableford SLGC. Cool and overcast, comfortable golf day. Playing off 17
It just never felt right ! Scrambled all day for a good score but did not feel like a good round.
Miss a drive and the next shot was great, chunk a chip a few feet and then put the next one a few feet short of the flag.
Front 9 had two Pars a Birdie and a Wipe for 19 points.
Back started with two Wipes a Birdie and three Pars for 18 points.
Finished with 37, gotta be happy with that, GA dropped .7
    Happy days

Oldies’ nine hole stab this morning.
Two wipes: lost a ball on the edge of the 13th where everything was clear except for visibility to my ball. Second ball flew an identical path and it was readily found. On the 16th I pulled the tee shot left into trees, hit another tree trying to get, out for 3 but eventually ran out of shots before holing.
A handful of 1-points and only one 3-point. Total of 12 points.

Weather forecast was for heaps of rain, but still dry when I left home. Had a little very light drizzle while playing, just enough to be a nuisance.

First round (of 4) of the Summer Cup yesterday at Southern. Best 3 of the 4 rounds qualifies your score and it’s stableford off the white tees. Even though I’m on night shift this week I decided to make the effort to go….with a few hours sleep. Playing off 10 for the day and starting on the back nine in drizzle rain for most of the day.

Back 9 – 13 points after wiping our first hole
Second 9 – 18 points with one wipe

Some good and some pretty average stuff but 31 points was ok. Most of our 4 had a similar score but I didn’t wait around to see what the best was. 3 more scores in the 30’s will get some money to spend in the pro shop for my birthday present.

EDIT – Leading scores were 41 & 40. I’ll need a few higher mid to high 30 games over the next 3 weeks to figure in the good prizes

House sitting this week in San Remo, (been cold and windy).
Played yesterday at Phillip Island in wind and drizzle.

started well with 5 pars in first 6 holes. 39 OTS and 20 points on front 9.
back 9 was hard going with all long par 4’s and 3’s playing into a South East 3 club wind. finished with 46 OTS for 14 points
    6 pars 11 Bogeys, 1 DB = 85 OTS = 34 points.
Overall pleased with game in tough conditions, greens are slower than used to but still made some good putts. ball striking good and hit every fairway. kept tempo and timing in the wind

Off to Aussie Golf Ranch tomorrow for what will be a very enjoyable but challenging 9 hole course.

Baby sitting grand kids on Thursday / Friday which will be very enjoyable. Then back to golf at Cape Schanck with plasterer on Sunday and Monday with a business client at the Home of golf= Lang Lang..

Stab at Warra today. Playing off 15 today means three ‘no shot’ holes.
Two points on every hole on the front except for the 9th, a no shot hole, for 1 point. Parred the 6th – the other no-shot hole on the front. 17 points.
One point on each of 4 back nine holes: 11th (no shot), 13th (index 1 and a 3-putt), 16th (another 3-putt) and the 18th (a par3 which took 3 to get on the green and I missed the first putt). 14 points.

So, only one par (6th) and three doubles. A fairly consistent round except for those two 3-putts.

Round at Melbourne Airport Golf Club yesterday with a mate (who happens to be a teaching Pro). Spent the first 5 holes hitting the ball left before my mate gave me a couple of pointers as to what was happening then started hitting the ball right. Something to work on when I get to the range next.
Anyway a disappointing 14 points on the first 9 and 15 on the second nine for a 29 point total.

    4BBB Par at Warra today.
Partner and I both started with pars (except that mine didn’t count), but it buoyed us up for the challenge.
I started with three pars then another on 7 and a birdie on the par5 8th. My partner had three pars taking us to +7 at half way.
Apart from partner’s birdie on the par5 12th taking us to +8, all we could manage was a handful of halves until we bombed out on the last 3 holes with wipes, pulling us down to +5 and not even a ball DTL.

Garfield Plate at Garfield today. Team stab event but with individual scores.
I started on the 8th hole (par3) then 9th (of course) another par3. 5 for 1 on both.
Something like six par3’s and I made a habit of 1 point on most of them. Playing off 16, that’s two no-shot holes, so one of my 5 for 1’s became a wipe but I did get 2 points on one later in the round.
Continuing onto the back nine, I scored poorly with just 9 points. Two of those holes were my no-shot holes and a lost ball didn’t help.
Onto the front nine again and all remainIng 7 holes were 2 points and one 3-point. So, that’s 17 points plus the other 9 points for a 26 point total.

Oldies’ nine hole at Warra this morning.
Playing off 20 meant an extra shot on the index-1 13th hole. On for 3, 4 putts for 1 point. Two other 1-points but also two 3-points. 17 point total means an extra an extra handicap shot next time.

Quite hot out there today. Greens were really slick, mown this morning.

Stab at Warra today, actually a 4B Agg Stab.
Partner and I did reasonably on the front nine, he had 19 points, I had 17. But we crumbled under the pressure. He came in with 32 points, I had 31.

Greens were very slick, being polished up for next weekend’s pro-am. Balls rolling back off greens, 3-putts and 4-putts were not unusual. The course was otherwise in excellent condition, as are most Vic courses with the weather we’ve had.

Second round of the summer cup yesterday at Southern. Stableford playing off 10 and from the white tees. Back 9 first….

    16 points
    &
    15 points

For another 31 points and a fair way off the leaders. Need 2 high 30’s over the next two weeks to figure in a decent prize.
One bonus from last week……second prize in the raffle….nice bottle of Margaret River Shiraz. 😉

Dancer and I partnered up for this event.
We finished 3rd on a count back with combined score of 77 points. (all teams had 77)
Dancer is learning how to play Warra and it showed as he put together a gr8 score of 39 points.
highlight of his round was no wiped holes, a good effort.

My good form continued from Phillip Island and I finally broke the 90 barrier at Warragul , with a nice 79 off the stick.
pleasing part was no outs and not more than a 5 on any hole. (no doubles).
so off to a good start for year.
Saturday is monthly medal at the home of golf and hope good form continues.

I am in a happy place tonight. Today I played the Stableford comp at Heywood gold club and broke 80 for the first time in a proper competition. I didn’t break 80 by much ( 79 OTS) with 42 points, but I can say that I finally hit a score with a 7 in front of it.

Conditions were good, with little wind on the front 9 , but it built as the round progressed. The fairways were grassy and greens smooth and fast, compared to my home club. My tee shots were accurate, but still shorter than ideal. I got the hybrids to work today and hit more GIR than usual with my irons.

I hit 3 birdies, 7 pars, 6 bogeys and 2 double bogeys. Both doubles were results of poor choice on clubs pitch/ chip shots. One were I should have used LW to avoid the ball running off a green and taking three putts to recover. The other I used the LW instead SW for a full shot into the green. It came up 5 m short of the green, needing another chip to get on the green.
