ParticipantA break in the weather yesterday meant a round of golf. Stab at Warra of course.
A bit chilly first up: -1.7°, but it had thawed by the time we started.
I was a bit rusty to start with three wipes, ably assisted by a 3-putt on the first. Then it all settled down except the ball was going nowhere. Another wipe on 7 where my chips up to the green kept coming back.
A stunning result of 8 points for the front nine.
Back nine was better. I even managed a 3-point par on 15 and accumulated another 18 points for a 26 point total.
33 puttsPeople say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

ParticipantMultiplication stableford at Warra yesterday. No prizes there.
Individually, neither of us did well.
I had two 3-putts and one chip in for a 31 putt total.
I had one wipe, only two 3-points and just 1 point on 10 holes for a 26 point total. Partner had 26 as well.
My hip is giving me grief. Drives are down to around 150m, iron distances are also well down and putting is crap.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

KeymasterJust a little boasting after today……
I’ve been playing fairly poorly of late (26 & 26 points) the last two rounds. Had to play our doubles handicap matchplay today as it was our last day to play it or we forfeited. I found out when I turned up that my partner had a positive Covid test on Saturday night and couldn’t play. I had to play aginst the two other players by myself. One is off about 4 handicap and the other off 6…I was playing off 10….
Shotgun start off the 2nd at Commonwealth GC and playing stableford. Won the 2nd and 3rd hole and managed to be 3 up after 8 (the front 9)
Lost the 10th
Won the 11th
Halved the 12th
Lost the 13th (after 3 putting)
Halved the 14th (after 3 putting)…getting nervous
Halved the 15th (NTP)
Won 16th…and 5 & 4 or somthing around that?So satisfying that I kept it together and hopefully my partner and I can go futher….
As for my round……18 and 15 for 33 points and a BDTL and NTP.
Probably back to crap next week at Cape Schanck?

ParticipantStab at Warra last Thurs. 7 out, 13 back for a total of 20.
Putts refused to drop, two 3-putts but only one 1-putt = 37.Another stab at Warra today with slightly better results.
12 out, 11 back for 23 points. Three wipes, three 3-point pars and a heap of 1-points.
33 putts.I can’t see any forthcoming improvement with a hip that keeps jabbing me. By the time that gets fixed, I’ll need everything else replaced.

Participantplayed yesterday at the home of golf.
4 pars
9 bogeys
4DB
1 triple.
for a score of 90.
positives: 1.process was good, didn’t have any swing thoughts however I did not commit to some shots and while not hitting ball well, managed to get ball inside the scoring zone (100m) in 36 shots.(so no swing work needed)
down sides. took 54 to get the ball in hole from 100m in.(no 3 putts so all pitching and chipping issues)
practice plan: a) hit 100m shots with 3 different clubs to establish feel and touch and multiple trajectory options
b) hit 10 20 and 30m shots over bunkers and dams to a variety of pins.
c) putt from 1m 5m 10m. (improve my % made from 1m and 5m currently 8/10 and 1/10), no 3 putts from 10m
d) play a few holes just committing to shotnext event: vets on 11th July so practice will be focussed on doing well in this event.

ParticipantGeoff you and I would make a great team. Your long game and mine inside 100 m would complement each other.
The only problem for me is with the change of weather making the verges soft and now my low trajectory shots are not rolling predictably. I have a sheet with my distances for 25/50/75/100 % power shots with each club ( I do it by feel, not the clock method) , so I can measure distance to the pin then look at the chart for a club that matches the number. If I want a high shot it would befrom the 75 or 100% power shot lines of the chart.
Your practice plan looks good, but I would add a variety of lies for the over the obstacle section. For me, I rarely get these shots in good lies. I have started to try to make sure I get over the obstacle, even if it means I have to chip or putt back to the pin. I hate not clearing the obstacle. Trying to get cute and hit the perfect shot is not working for me. Perhaps not committing to the shot is my issue.

ParticipantStab at Warra yesterday. Played a little better than recently.
Putting: three 3-putts, only four 1-putts = 35.
Points: only one wipe but also only two 3-points, total 29 points. That’s the last five rounds without a flag and only two in the last 10 rounds.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

ParticipantMM stroke at Warra today.
Freezing (literally) to start the day. Fog on course cut visibility to 50m for two hours, then the sun finally broke through for the second nine.
How’d I play? Just more rubbish. 38 putts: four 3-putts, only two 1-putts. Nett 82.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

ParticipantStab at Warra yesterday.
Four 3-putts caused three wipes, partly rescued by a chip-in 4-point on the 9th to turn on 16 points, 16 putts.
Back nine saw another 16 points with 17 putts. The 10th was one of those 3-putt wipes.Overall that was somewhat better than many recent attempts.

ParticipantI thought of playing the Vets at Langy yesterday, but my golf is rubbish until I get a steel hip sometime next year.
Due to forecast rain for today, a few of us had a practice round yesterday.
Like CB80 I had four 3-putts for a 35 putt total. 29 stab points with a couple of Mulligans.Radar shows that the rain is about to hit now.

ParticipantStab at Warra yesterday.
Two 3-putts, only four 1-putts = 34 putts.
Two wipes, only two 3-points, heaps of 1-points for a 28 point total.I have only one flag in my last 10 rounds, all the others being older. Four flags to drop off in my next four rounds.
