Can break 80
ParticipantPlayed on course games yesterday, not really concerned about scoring at this stage although playing with a aim, just focus on re defining my process (club selection, pre shot routine and course strategy, and making a new game plan).
today on front 9 I hit 3 clubs off tee to determine best option for each hole.
Played a par 5 hole with just using an 8 iron. made an very easy 6 (almost a 5) Really good fun and opens mind to playing a variety of shots and teaches multitude of way to play the hole, instead of just grabbing driver and hitting down fairway, missing green in trouble and struggling to make a 6.
on a par 3 hole hit club for front middle and back distances.
today is a nice day with some sun, just got fishing report from mate, water is still cloudy and lots of weed, needs another day or 2 to settle down, nothing happening as yet so off to golf for day to play a fun day using the different club game again.September 23, 2022 at 8:23 am #18762OldBogey
ParticipantStab at Warra yesterday. Warm sunny weather and the course was chockers with public holiday.
I play an ‘internal’ comp where I like my points to exceed my putts. This still gives me something to strive for when my scoring is not so good.
After 9 holes, I had 17 of each. But on 10-13 I had 2-putts with 1-point, leaving points 4 behind the putts. 14 & 15 were both 2/2, still 4 down. 16 was a mess but I 1-putted for no score; 5 down. All was not lost, but not promising.
Drive on 17 was mediocre into left rough. It’s a long (for me) uphill par 4 with 2 handicap strokes. 2nd shot, 4h, stayed in the rough with poor advancement. Another 4h sailed beautifully toward the rh side of the green which can’t be seen over the crest. My ball had found its way onto the green just a couple of feet from the pin. In for 4 for 4 points, 1 putt. My aim is still achievable. The 18th is a downhill par 3, nearly 200m with large trees lining both sides all the way to the green. My drive clipped a tree but came back toward the fairway leaving a clear 80m to the pin. An up-&-down would do it. Pitch was a bit short leaving a long putt which skimmed the hole. In for 4, 2 points, 2 putts.
End result: 33 putts, 31 points. Oh well.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

ParticipantStab at Warra yesterday, lovely golf weather although a little chilly as clouds rolled over.
Teed off at 11:00 and the course was virtually deserted for our 2nd nine.
Only one 3-putt for the day, finishing with 32 putts. Missed a few easy ones that I shouldn’t have. Not enough 1-putts.
29 points with only one 3-point and a few messed up holes.I’m not a great football fan although I like to hear that Geelong has won. When I got home, I watched the 2nd half. That was no contest. Some of the preliminary finals were far more entertaining.

Back on practice range this morning for tune up for tournament next week at Barwon ValleyOctober 1, 2022 at 8:21 am #18778OldBogey
ParticipantStab at Warra last Tues.
I had a non-eagle on the 8th. ???? The 8th is a par 5, but they were doing some course works on the side around the dogleg. So a temp tee was set up about 100m from the green. On for 1, in for 3 and 5 points. No prizes for that, nor for the players with an albatross. Still, 20 points out, 12 back for a 32 total with 31 putts.Stab at Warra on Thurs.
The odd 4-point and a couple of 3s got my score up to 21 points on the front with 14 putts.
Back nine: only one 3-point, two 1-points for 17 total. A chip-in but two 3-putts for 15 total
38 points, 29 putts and a stroke off my playing h’cap.Olinda MM at Beacy today.

ParticipantMM, stroke/putting at Beacy yesterday. Weather was fantastic, course in excellent condition, greens were slick.

ParticipantMatch play yesterday. Didn’t play to h’cap, nor even close. Lost 5&4. Saw my opponent on the course today and he said he was playing badly today and I would’ve won. Doubtful.
Stab today. Front nine was good, 20 points. Hip was painful for back nine, 10 points. 33 putts.

ParticipantVictorian veterans championships at Barwon Valley. stroke round.
Monday weather wise was best day 17 and warm. Tuesday cold and cloudy – scores were. 88, 90. (will the global warming ever start so we can thaw out)day 1 had 5 DB = 5 x 3 putts + 5 x 1 putts + 2 lost vision balls in water areas (new prototypes)
day 2 had 3 DB = 3 x3 putts +2×1 putts + 1 lost vision ball in water. (new prototype)Too many DB by playing too aggressively with first putts giving me no chance of getting the return putt.
very disappointed as I practiced hard for this event, but struggled to break 90, even though my process was good and apart from 3 bad swings (vision balls in water) rest was OK. chipping was good.
My game is now very consistent almost in a rut, lucky not going to be the National NAGA.my 9 rounds this year have been 90 88 89 90 83 90 90 91 91. (very very consistent)
4 days R&R and fishing at Lorne then
Back to island for Vets game at Phillip Island on Monday.
Then off to see the super coach to try and get me back to being a good player. and breaking 80 againOctober 7, 2022 at 7:52 am #18786OldBogey
ParticipantStab at Warra yesterday.
Only two 1-putts on each nine, all the rest were 2-putts. 16+16=32 putts.
I had three 4-point holes, three 3-points, four 1-points. The other 8 were all 2-points. 20+21=41 points.
Won the day and the mystery six.
My hip was really bothering me all day, interfering with my swing and putting. I don’t know how I could have had a good score with all whingeing.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

ParticipantFoursomes at Warra today. Passing showers with sunny breaks inbetween. A bit finer later in the day.
Our handicap was 13.5 which didn’t leave us much room for error. Started with a birdie when I drained a long putt, then just maintained a steady rate. At the turn, we had only used 4 of our handicap but it all went downhill after that. We used up 4 strokes on the 13th when we both failed. The end result was 76.5 which will be too far off the pace to even get a ball.

First few holes were ok but after that, my hip was giving me grief. Reflected in the scores, just 22 points.Stab at Warra today. Hip wasn’t quite as bothersome, 26 points, 35 putts.

Do you use anti- inflammatory drugs pre-game? e.g. Meloxicam.
It helps!
Can you schedule the surgery earlier? After 4 weeks the only discomfort I have is where the incision line is, the joint pain is gone and mobility is restored.October 15, 2022 at 1:44 am #18799OldBogey

That’s why the cortisone was of only short term benefit. No, I don’t usually take pain killers, maybe I should.
I can’t schedule the surgery any sooner. I’m a category 3 (shut up and wait your turn). It took 4 months to get an assessment by the surgeon who puts me in the queue. The queue is 9 months long.People say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

Stab at Warra yesterday, split 6 format (aggregate, best, multiplication).
Partner had 4 wipes and 28 points, I had 34 points without a wipe, yet we still managed to get balls DTL.
