ParticipantFlagpole (stroke) at Beacy yesterday. Warra still being used for Super 6.
I made it as far as the 2nd last green before running out of strokes. The winner made it to the last green thus winning a ham.how does flag pole event work ? never seen that one before.?

It’s a handicap stroke event where a ‘flagpole’ ( large ntp marker) is carried by the leading player until he/she runs out of strokes. It is then carried by others until they run out of strokes. Whoever carries it the furthest, typically somewhere on 19th or 20th wins the event. We do it for xmas and the winner gets a ham.

Participantback in the land of cold nights.
playing and practicing golf for next few weeks as social, then preparing for pennant season, starting on Feb 26th. pennant is the best test of ones golf, and representing club one of the things golfers look forward to.
will play for the new club this year so will be a challenge.
lots of km on car as big distances to travel between venues.
house nearly finished so moving day will likely be in middle of pennant.been a few weeks since done any fishing so will get back into the regular spots, once son in law fixes the boat, so will have to surf and pier fish in meantime.

Participant40 points and owerall WIN in South vs West event at Leongatha GC.
Leongatha is one of the best courses in South Gippsland and one of my favourite courses, where I usually play well.
good scores hard to ocme by and have to treat course with respect..8 pars + 10 bogeys – no outs just solid.
good lead in to pennant in 2 weeks time.
happy times, nice group and good feed at end.
despite my best effort WEST won the trophy for one year.February 17, 2023 at 7:52 am #18929OldBogey

despite my best effort WEST won the trophy for one year.Well done CB. My effort wasn’t so good, just 25 points which was near the average. Wests won by the tiniest of margins, something like 0.02% based on average score. I hadn’t played there for many years and the deceptive breaks in many greens caught me out, along with too many crap shots. Souths should have won with their course familiarity .
