ParticipantNot sure the best place to pop this so here will do…
I’ve been wondering with Jason Day for a while… can he ever reach the heights of his world number 1 form again and add to his 1 major? He came back form the break horrifically missing every cut but has a couple top 10 finishes now and been looking good.
The lingering question is his back. Can he keep going the way he is and expect to reach top form again? Does he need to go off tour for half a year or longer, have surgery and get fixed up and then come back and try and rise again? What is actually stopping him from doing that? Is he out of exemptions or something and worried if he has time off he won’t be eligible for certain tournaments?
I’ve seriously been wondering why he hasn’t gone and got the back fixed up if it even can be fixed up? Doesn’t seem like what he is doing will be sustainable.

ParticipantI can only assume he has the best possible medical advice. Might be they say once it’s done he will be recovering for a long time. Could be like so often with spinal problems that they can’t do much without a big risk of it going wrong and ending up worse.
I hope he finds a way to manage it and get back to his best form. It’s fun watching him putt when he’s on.

He was the best putter on tour at one point but I heard him say he can barely practice putting these days because his back can’t handle repeatedly standing in that position.

ParticipantI find that I get tighter from short game practice than full swings
Good play from JD today – hopefully he can maintain his form

ParticipantHope he can bring it home this weekend. Put the naysayers back in their boxes for a while. Magic to watch when he is on.

ParticipantAnother missed cut in a major. I’m afraid JDay’s best days are behind him. He joins a long list of Aussies with just a solitary major.

ParticipantMajor winner
World number 1
WGC win
Multiple PGA winsAlways felt he had more to achieve but it will be a pretty good resume if he never wins anything again

ParticipantAgree 100% Weetbix. In 2015/16 I thought he was on the way to multiple majors; but as you say, pretty good career with 12 PGA wins.
