ModeratorIf we get there early will there be food
Is there a chipping green?
Depending on how early you get there, I can highly recommend a little cafe just after you turn off Mona Vale Rd on to Powderworks Rd. It’s about 300m down the road on the left, best Gourmet Pies in Sydney.

ModeratorThe 3rd round of the NSW OOM has been run and won.
The rain had disappeared by the time the groups teed off, down to 9 players after 2 of the combatants forgot to turn up! One was a visitor of Birdie Killer and the other was our very own Greywolfe, thinking that the game was on next week!!!! Lucky the Nationals were cancelled cause he’d have missed them as well. 😉
The course was in superb condition and from the Blue tees it was most challenging…some were very much back at the Black tee position. Most of the players found the greens the hardest part to tame, with the Greenies setting up a few tricky pin positions. Chatting with the course Super before we teed of he said that if he’d realised it was my group playing he would have made them much tougher! For most OOM players they had there scoring firmly in reverse gear from the previous round. So the results from the day:
1st Barenski 37pts
2nd Birdie Killer 30
3rd Commish 28…with 3 holes to go Commish was thinking a NAGA hat-trick 🙂
4th Patrick Ford (Vis) 25c/b
5th Schmuck 25
6th Snorkelguru 24c/b
7th Ribert Zink 24
8th Zookeeper 23
9th Peppas 22NTP’s
5th Barenski
7th Snorkelguru
12th Snorkelguru
17th BarenskiOOM STANDINGS with one round to go:
Barenski 107
Snorkelguru 96
Peppas 82
Commish 75
Birdie Killer 64
Greywolfe 64
Zookeeper 47
Jayb 34
Johnno 29
pyl 25
Schmuck 25
2Putts 22Thanks to my playing partners today, Commish and Zookeeper, for the company and a very enjoyable round.
I am very much looking forward to having all our interstate Members experience my workplace paradise at the Nationals next year.
Cheers

ParticipantA great day at a great course with some equally great people. A big thanks to my playing partners of Capt Barenski and Zoomeister. We were the lazy ones in carts. Wolfy was even lazier though…. he forgot to turn up altogether. An even bigger thanks to Barenski for arranging the day. As always, it was flawless and I believe we were made most welcome from the pro shop staff through to the clubhouse staff.
The course was in very good condition and the set up is a real test of golfing capabilities, as is evident by the scores. Very cliché, but you really do need to be on the fairway on this course or at worst 1st cut. An extremely well laid out course and placement is sooo important. Even more important is landing in the right spot on the green. Get on the wrong side of some of the undulations and deep, deep doo-doo is the result. If the course didn’t have enough upsides, the vista on a few of the holes is quite special as well.
Obviously a bit of home course knowledge was an advantage, but in saying that, Comrade Barenski was very solid tee to green on most occasions and seemed to have an exceptional handle on the speed of the greens. Well played sir. I was playing like a busted as is my norm these days, but I was surprised to find that the vast majority of the field must have been playing in sympathy with me. Definitely thought I was a shoo in for NAGA, that was until Zoo wiped 3 holes in a row and I knew I was safe.
Only downside for the day was the fact that even though I scored 28 pts, due to the way the scores were placed ( I assume single comp) I got a +3 PCC and my round flagged with a played to 18.7 off a daily hcp of 19. I’d hate to see what Barenski got off the same handicap.
Looking forward to the next one, wherever it may be.

Thanks Commish, I still reckon the Elanora greens are the best I’ve ever played on. I love their speed.

I would still rate The Lakes a little in front, but yeah, they are verrrry good. Concord are pretty damn good as well.
With the +3 PCC I played to 11. Lost .9
?Even though the result flagged, I had a played to 13 drop off the bottom, so I actually went out .7 ?
