ParticipantAnother poor round today off 13 at Pacific Harbour. 26 points so 95 off the stick
1 birdie 4 pars 5 bodies and equivalent of 5 doubles and 3 triples – a few were picked up
7/14 fairways but driver was slicey – except for 1 pull – and cost me 4 shots and a couple of lost balls. Also dropped 2 shots from a topped 4h into the water.
3 GIR – dropped 7 shots here, 1 hybrid 4 irons 1 iron punch I topped and 1 wedge.
6/17 up and downs – dropped 8 shots, 4 from 0/4 with SW from bunkers, 1 from 0/1 LW from the bunker, 1 from 2/3 LW chips, 1 from 2/3 PW chips, 1 from 0/1 8 iron chips
29 putts – 2 dropped from a 3 putt and 1 miss from 5ft
Dropped another shot from a PW approach into a bunker and disappeared so wiped the hole
Apart from the bunkers my short game was pretty good so happy with that
Long game was very right pretty much all day

ParticipantNo good hey – wondering if your efforts to produce that fade with the driver that seemed to work nicely at Beaudesert was overdone?

ParticipantThat’s a bit stuff , isn’t it! ( in Kiwi)
What about trying a bit of pre- closure on the club face ( like at 11 o’clock) before swinging at a fade. Mike Melaska has a good video on how to power fade on You Tube. I don’t have the link sorry. He instructed a golfer on how to get full release with the Driver and still get a fade, rather than the hold the heel of the club back method.

I do think that is pretty close to what I need to do – because I tend to set up shoulders closed so a square looking face is actually open and then I cut across it a bit
Gotta get the face aligned right

ParticipantHow was today’s round?
But better, off 12 had 6 over 18 on the front but only 13 points on the back
Driver was still too fadey – not as far off but because I don’t trust it I wasn’t aiming enough left to allow for it

ParticipantOff 12 at Hills in initially warm and then a bit wet conditions – but we fonsohed before the rain really came down so that was lucky
8 pars 5 bodies 3 doubles 2 triples
Both triples involved topped 3h shots that cost me 2 shots on 2 and 1 on 104/14 fairways – 2 dropped shots and some more work to do at the range this week
6 GIR – along with the 3 hybrid losses already mentioned dropped 2 with irons and 2 punching out of trees badly so 7 shots all up which is way bad
5/13 up and down – 6 dropped shots but overall short game was fairly decent apart from a thin SW bunker shot on 16 that flew the green. 5 down and only 1 of those was a Texas
33 putts – 2 3 putts but also dropped some good ones on the slow bouncy greens. But no complaints for a $25 round – it’s a bargain

ParticipantPlayed at Royal Pines championship course off 13 today in a game organised by Mads. Played with Panda Sandy and Dinner Box. Had 18 and 14 for 32 and 89 off the stick.
1 birdie 4 pars 9 bogies 3 doubles 1 wipe
8/14 fairways – apart from a pull OOB on 15 I drove pretty well today. A couple of bunkers found but otherwise all good. 2 dropped from the OOB.
8 GIR – plus 3 close enough to Texas – many of these were quite a way from the flag which led to a poor putting performance. But apart from a thinned wedge from a divot in 6 and a very weak 4i on 14 I hit the ball decently. Should have had a few more GIR and many closer but that’s golf.
1/11 up and down, plus another to 4ft I didn’t make – apart from a fat pitch and a shifted chip on 14 my short game was ok. The greens are tough though. 8 dropped.
40 putts – 7 dropped. 6 3 putts and the 4ft miss. Most of the 3 putts started outside 30ft – often across different tiers. Putts were hard to make today with my playing partners have 38 and 37 and something similar as well.
My 32 was good for 2nd of 8 today behind a rampaging 39 point Mads.
Playing Redcliffe tomorrow so hopefully will hit it at least as well and be a bit better with the short game I’m dropping a 9.9 so need at least 37 points off 11.

ParticipantFinally so decent scoring! 8 over 79 off 11 for 39 points at Redcliffe. Struck it well like yesterday but no 3 putts meant I converted.
Handicap down from 11.2 to 10.9
2 birdies 8 pars 6 bodies 2 doubles – no wipes
9/14 fairways – only 2 really poor drives today but only 1 dropped shot
10 GIR – overall struck the ball really well. Topped a hybrid and a poor punch cost me 2 shots
0/7 up and down – the only disappointment, just wasn’t getting them close enough – Texas was off on pace and others were just not struck firmly enough. Dropped 1 SW bunker, 1 LW chip, 3 PW chips and 2 Texas for 7 all up
34 putts – putted ok but did miss a 5ft up and down opportunity. 2 birdie putts. Otherwise it was generally ok and lagged pretty well.
