ParticipantThe investment of time and money hasn’t been huge so far. Monte’s video was about $25 and the lesson was about $75. The video came out in mid August so I’m only a few weeks of practice in so far.
It’s been a good experience- – the improvements have been fairly fast and progressive even though there is a long way to go

ParticipantI like your stats categories, especially TSIP, which makes more sense that fairways hit in the centre. If you have a clear shot towards the target, that is win in my book.

ParticipantYep
I’ve heard numerous times that for the pros not losing shots is even more important than making birdies so my statistical approach is focussed on removing waste
But my course management is still focussed on scoring and where possible I attack par 5s in 2
And as my 40-60m pitch game improves I will take on more par 4s and aim to get closer to the green rather than lay back in my more comfortable 70m plus rangeNovember 12, 2020 at 4:06 am #14087Hack2489
Participanthe biggest has been my full swing and Monte Scheinblum’s No Turn Cast training program.
I looked into the Monte ‘no cast drill’ and noticed it very similar to (same as?) the Mike Malaska ‘L to L’ concept. I’ve been using a lot of Malsaka info to change my swing, particularly the use of the hips, but also the “L to L” and the ‘hockey stick grip’ drill.
By the time you realise this part of my signature doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.

ParticipantMaybe – I don’t see the similarities myself but that’s why there are different instructors and approaches because we all connect the dots differently
I like Malaska and he is definitely on the same path as Monte because they both were impacted by the method that was pushed of holding lag and pulling the handle and are pushing back against that

Luckily you don’t have time to get lost in the detail since you have all that running to do.

ParticipantWhat started well ended up being a poor and Poo worthy performance at RiverLakes. The course was in good condition, but the greens were furry and slow and a bit bumpy. But as a value course it was really good.
Played off 6 which I think is my lowest playing handicap ever
Finished with 3 over and 19 points on the back, but after an excellent first 7 holes to be 1 over with 17 points the writing was on the wall with 2 1 point birdies on 17 and 18
And it was to be that I had a 7 over 43 for 13 points on the front which was 3 behind my nearest Poo competitor, although well off NAGA
1 birdie 8 pars 7 bogies 2 doubles
Story of the collapse was a case of the pulls/hooks that led to a lot of bogeys and a couple of doubles, and a lack of good short game shots to recover
6/13 fairways – 1 dropped with driver that ran 270m to find the very edge of a hazard that cut into the fairway in line with the pin and needed to be chipped out, 1 dropped from pulled into a tree.
8 GIR – good stat but 6 were in the first 8 holes. 1 draw 3h cost me a shot, but I had wedges and short irons into greens that I messed up badly and didn’t save.
3/9 up and downs – all 3 Texas were up and down, nothing else. 2 dropped from LW bunker shots, 2 from LW chips and 2 from PW chips.
34 putts – 2 3 putts offset by 1 25 footer for birdie. Didn’t putt too badly as the first 3 putt was from 60ft, although the 2nd was from a weak fat 2nd putt.
I think I was setting up a bit closed because I was avoiding the fades which I’ve had a bit of lately, and the No Turn Cast training info said that people often get the hooks with this while their body and hands learn new patterns so may have been a bit of that too
Oh well – hopefully better next week

Participant… writing was on the wall with 2 1 point birdies on 17 and 18 …
How can a birdie be 1 point if you’re playing off a daily handicap of 6?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ParticipantIs this where I gloat that I am playing this weekend?
Back at Piney with Rusty Old Man and the boys.
It was July 2019 since I last played there, but after 4 hundred thousand rounds I’ve played there before, I’m still confident of knowing where to hit it.
This will be game number 4 for the year, backing up after the Sanctuary Cove game with Placegetter in July.
Playing off 5 for the day, I’m hoping to crack 41 points, just like that.November 26, 2020 at 7:39 pm #14394Weetbix
ParticipantSome people have all the luck!
Look forward to the game report
My tip – on 1 go high

And, in the giddy head buzz excitement of boasting about your return to Piney you’ve overlooked an important consideration; What are you planned choices of attire?

Thanks Hack, I’m glad you asked.
I think I’ve narrowed it down to either subtle and somewhat classic or bright and bold. The elegant is an RQ shirt which has a white back and blue to light blue fade on the front. This will be paired with navy shorts and grey belt.
The fun will be a well used combo of bright green shirt and my blue and white “check” striped shorts and maybe white belt.
What I’m wearing here https://youtu.be/PrD5HrSVZYkThe hat for each option is yet to be confirmed.
