A very similar round today at Hills again off 12 starting off 10

    6 over 42 back for 18 points
    7 over 43 front foe 17 points
    13 over 35 points

    2 birdies 6 pars 7 bogies 1 double 1 triple 1 wipe

5/14 fairways – no dropped shots

8 GIR – 4 shots dropped from iron into trees and reload on 10 and OOB on 2, 1 from punch shot that hit a tree, 1 from wedge really poorly struck and 1 from a LW pitch from 50m that I thinned through the green, but partially made up for those with a Mini Driver from 225m to about 10ft and 7i to 4ft – by 2 birdies

3/7 up and downs – not too bad – dropped 4 shots

36 puts- deopped 4 shots from 3 putts, all from outside 30ft but still not good enough

Disappointing to have 2 holes worst than doubles, but Hills tests your game and it caught me

Highlight was the Mini Driver on 1 to just behind the back left pin – didn’t know until I’d walked quite a ways up from where I hit it because trees blocked the green

Should flag but will only be a small drop – won’t get me under 10.0

Well done keeping your composure despite three bad holes

Well done keeping your composure despite three bad holes

Thanks. If bad holes ruin your composure golf is going to be a very tough sport! They are so common!

yet you see it so often when a player loses his cool after a bad shot and carries on seething for quite a while. Unless of course it helps him focus maybe, I doubt it does however.

    I agree

Lose it for a minute to get through it, but if you hold on and keep being shitty it won’t be good for your game

I know from experience that if you lose it for a year or more, it definitely isn’t good for one’s game.

Much better today at McLeod, but off 12 off the blues which certainly helps

    2 birdies 5 pars 7 bogies 4 doubles
    4 over 42 19 points front
    7 over 42 16 points back

6/13 fairways – dropped 1 driver and 1 hybrid into trees – both pushes
Started to get my driver back online towards the end of the round – got aligned right was I think the main help

6 GIR, 5 Texas – dropped 4 shots from poor irons and 2 from poor punches, but +1 for a 7i to 5ft for birdie and +1 for LW 3rd shot to 6ft for par

    4/10 up and down – 4 1/2 dropped
    1 drop 1/3 from sand
    1 1/2 drop LW chips
    2 drop Texas 3/5
Very happy with that as also had 4 pitches in the 40m range and 3/4 were good and gave me some shot at par after poor approaches for 3 of them and a birdie chance for the other

    30 putts – 3 1/2 dropped – 1 3 putt and 3 short misses

Happy generally but need to keep that driver straighter

    Sheila’s course – figures!

Played Beaudesert today, starting at about 5 degrees but the sky was clear and we warmed up ok after a few holes
I started badly including 2 double bogey wipes and 2 2 pointers then lost a ball in the middle of the fairway on 5 so was 4 points after 5 and pretty pissed with the Golf Gods
The group behind us found my ball in a small depression in the middle of the fairway but too late for me

Then had a really good run for 10 holes with 6 pars then bogey par bogey par
    But finished poorly
16 and 14 points for 30 all up

9 pars 4 bogeys 4 doubles and the lost ball

6/14 fairways – well technically 7 with the lost ball – deiver wasn’t too good and dropped 4 shots plus 3 from the lost one

    6 GIR – dropped 1 1/2

7/11 up and downs – very happy with that stat, 3 1/2 shots dropped

    32 putts – dropped 3 shots from 2 3 putts and a shirt miss

Maroochy River next weekend which will be a test

Back down under 10 with 9.9 after today’s played to 9.4 from 36 points at Maroochy River

The course was immaculate and the greens were very fast and firm but our winner smashed it with 44 points

3 birdies (all 4 points) 7 pars 4 bogeys 3 doubles 1 triple (double from a stab POV)
Effectively 9 over which was handicap

    9/14 fairways – dropped 2 shots

6 GIR – dropped 1/2 from a poor wedge and 2 from bad LW pitches, but plus 1 from a 7i to 10ft for birdie so net 1 1/2

    6/15 up and down – 6 dropped
    1 1/3 8i chips
    1 1/2 0/2 LW chips
    1 1/2 0/2 LW sand
    2 5/8 Texas

    29 putts – 2 3 putts offset by 3 long putts including 2 birdies so +1
Rolled in heaps of putts today – just one of those days and enjoyed it very much

Nice to be back into the 9s, if only just

Well done Weetbix! Those numbers are what I aspire to achieve.
Oh,to play on immaculate golf courses! Then again, I wouldn’t have any excuses for my poor shots, would I!

    Thanks xrman

Most courses up here are in top condition right now so we are really enjoying that
If we keep getting some rain over winter – which is the day season up here – they should enter spring perfect and we could be in for some superb golf for the next 11 months

Off 9 at Carbrook today in very pleasant conditions – bit brisk to start but quickly warmed up once we started walking
Finished with 1 birdie, 4 pars, 11 bogies and 2 doubles for 14 over and 31 points

2 Fairways – driver wasn’t good today costing me 5 shots, and with a hybrid hook on our first hole 10th stopping under a tree I was 6 over off the tee – so that’s the main story of the score

5 GIR plus 4 Texas – dropped 3 shots here but picked up 1 1/2 from 6i to 5ft for birdie and 7i to 15ft to get a point after going OOB off the tee on 16

7 1/2 over from the full game is not where I want to be by a large margin

However I bought myself a Skytrak as my local range is closing end of this month, so hopefully some work on that will straighten things up

5/11 up and down – dropped 3 1/2 shots here so that’s positive

31 putts – 4 dropped but 1 made up. Not good enough

Hope Island next Sunday will be a real tester

    What is Skytrak?
You had my attention at” very pleasant conditions”.
    14 over =86?
I can suggest a solution to hitting the fairways with Driver. Just hit it only 180m and you can hit most fairways. Ask me how I know.
Of course that means that your second shots ( or third) become more critical to get it near the green.
Where is Hope Island? Near Gilligan’s Is.?

Skytrak is a photograph based launch monitor than measures the launch of the ball in 3 dimensions and shows it on your attached device

    images.jpeg-1

I can use it in my back yard hitting into a net

It was about 9 degrees when I got to the course at 7am bit by 8am after 3 holes the jacket was off

    85 – par 71 course

I think I’ll try and straighten things out rather than dial down to 180m – but thanks for the offer

Hope Island is a bit north of the Gold Coast, so not even in the same hemisphere as Gilligan’s, although it’s quite likely you will find a Ginger there most days

Skytrak should help you a lot more than just using a net alone.
