Yeah totally different experience to get feedback on distances and shapes compared to just how contact feels and where it hits the net

I’m looking forward to using it more particularly for experimenting a bit with different feels and approaches and being able to see what they do to the ball flight, as well as tweaking my setup to bring the shot shape into a playable range

Weets, I know you love a good start.

It will be 155 days between my last and next game.
    That’s 5 months and 4 days
Which works out to be 42.47% of the year.

I won’t have a chance to touch the club’s before the game too. Yay.

This post did not age well…

Let’s recalculate it to be 211 days.
Which is 30 weeks or 58% of a year.

I had a 20 minute putting session the weekend before last, so I’m primed.

What me now jinx everything again with this post ??

Brisbane Fairways round at Hope Island today
Beautiful day, course was in great condition
Playing off 11 (GL 9.9) and shotgun start off 16

    1 birdie 5 pars 11 bogies 1 double

6 Fairways – 2 dropped shots off the tee with Driver. Overall drove pretty well.

6 GIR – 1 hybrid and 2 LW pitch shots cost me. Again overall was fairly decent.

6/12 up and down – dropped 4 shots
1 from 0/1 LW sand shots, but happy as it was a good bunker shot
2 from 0/3 PW chips – bit disappointing
0 from 0/2 LW chips – putter let me down on one of them
1 from.5/6 Texas wedges – happy with that

32 putts – 2 good ones, 3 3 putts and 1 short miss for net 3 shots dropped

35 points all up and 12 over 83 off the stick

    Down to 9.8 – only a 0.1 drop

After the downpour all week we weren’t sure how playable Keperra would be – but the course handled it well and Sunday was perfect weather

    My game wasn’t so good
Decent 4 over 18 point front
But poor 12 over 12 point back nine

So 30 points – not terrible but felt pretty rubbish

Had a similar sort of round yeaterday….19 and 11. A little frustrating isn’t it.

I got wet feet from the soggy conditions on the local course. I would like to say that the reason I hooked about 6 tee shots into the trees was because it was dryer in there. It isn’t true, of course. I was trying to get ” full release ” feeling with Driver and smacked more than a few down the middle and then curved them left. 14 and 16 points, not bad for a C grade level game.

    Sure is

It hurt to make the turn 4 over and then go double on 10 and lose the tee shot on 11 – not a bad shot it just bounced into the tree line and then gone in very clear open ground; golf is aa bitch sometimes – to be effectively 4 over after 2 holes for the back

    Bloody golf

I see your two crap holes and raise the stakes. I hit three pars in a row, then three doubles in a row. Not all that happy Jan!

    I hear ya

My raise is going triple as much over on the back as the front

    4 over 40
    12 over 48
    Double
    Wipe double
    Bogey
    3 putt bogie
    Bogie
    Par
    3 putt triple
    Double
    Par
    That’s horrible golf right there

Changed my scoring system around for Sunday’s review – putting more of the responsibility on the long game when it puts me in a very difficult up and down situation, including any bunker shot

Reasoning is that even the best in the world get about 50% from the bunkers so for me any up and down from the sand is basically a bonus shot

So Sunday I was 9 over
    0 driver
    -1 hybrid – pulled 35m left
-3 irons – 2 big pushes on first 2 holes, both ending up as pars but the +1 will go to the LW bunker shot on 1 and the 15 footer on 2, big pull on 12 into a bunker well short of the green
    0 for wedges – +1 for PW to 2ft on 3, -1 for fat SW on 14
-2 for iron punch shots, both clipped trees
+1 for LW bunker shot on 1 to 2ft
0 for PW chips although I didn’t get any up and down they weren’t bad
0 for LW chips as it finished inside 5ft
-3 for Texas wedges – 2/5 up and down
    -1 for putting – +2 for saves outside 5ft, -3 for misses inside 5 and a 3 putt

So -6 long game -3 short game

My old approach put too much pressure on the short game by scoring against always getting up and down unless it was really in a bad place

At the same time scoring an iron just offline and finding a bunker the same as one I top 10m isn’t right either

So still some work to do
