My golf buddyTony and I have entered the Southern Ports golf week held on the SE coast of S.A.
Three golf courses are involved ; Kingston, Robe and Beachport.
Tomorrow we will travel to Beachport to play a Pinehurst event. Then on Monday, Wednesday and Friday we will travel to the other towns for Stableford games. The result over 54 holes will determine the champ in A,B, C men’s and ladies events. There will be a few social games on the”off ” days.

My handicap has dropped once I entered ( 21 to 19) , so I am hoping to be able to play B grade rather than C grade, mainly for logistic reasons ( one car). Let’s hope they allow it.

I am excited to play this week long comp , with a bit of MTB riding with my wide in between games. I am hoping to get her on the golf course and try golf too.

The Pinehurst game was good fun .Our playing partners and my team were neck and neck until the last two holes, when we scored two pars to pull three points clear, ( 90 to 93) only to see them pip us by 1/2 a stroke on handicap.

The course was in good condition and the weather perfect the start of the game. The wind did build in the afternoon.
Tony played well today, except for a tee shot he sprayed into the adjacent lawn bowls club. That cost him a beer as worst shot of the day, but he also got shot of the day on the last hole with his tee shot that ended on the green.

We will be playing at Kingston on Monday.

Kingston was a great course. Well worth trying if you are travelling down the SE coast of South Australia.

I played with 3 good blokes and we had fun on the challenging course in the warm humid conditions.
My score was 94 strokes/ 33 points. I look forward to playing Beachport again on Wednesday, then Robe on Friday.

We had a practice on the new 6 holes at Robe yesterday. They are set in the sand dunes, with elevated tee boxes and good sand trap placement making for a challenging game.
The wind is back in force so today game in Beachport will be a challenge.

The wind was moderate, around 30 kph at Beachport.
After a shaky start ( triple bogey) i did well. 85 strokes/ 38 points. A nice game of golf.

Today is the last day of the 54 hole comp. The weather has made a turn for the worse. with drizzly rain and light winds.
B grade is in Robe today, while A &C grades are playing in Kingston and Beachport. The Kingston course has been getting rave reviews by competitors. The only strange thing is that they don’t have sand traps. The beach is close by after all. The grass traps caught most of us out and caused a few good players to lose a few points.

The final round at Robe didn’t start well. It was drizzling rain and light wind. They told me I was leading B grade just before we hit off. I was feeling a bit “off” and put it down to nerves, which is not usually a problem for me. My guts were churning. Then I remembered the hot Sri Lankan curry I had for dinner the previous evening! I made some poor choices for three wipes on the back nine, After A comfort stop, I played a lot better! I scrambled to a 31 point round, which earned me third place in B grade and 2nd in the Vets.

The whole week was great experience.
