Driven by the commitment to spur golf interest among youths, TPC Kuala Lumpur has introduced the Junior Golf Pass (JGP), an annual passport for golfers aged between 12 and 20.

The JGP allows 360 days access to TPC Kuala Lumpur’s multi award-winning golf course, top notch clubhouse facilities plus a host of other privileges; minus the monthly subscription fees.

“The JGP is positioned as the perfect gift for your child who is into golf and to provide them with the opportunity to experience the exclusivity of a golf and country club lifestyle. Parents can also enjoy the same privileges through the JGP,” said Steven Thielke, Chief Executive Officer of TPC Kuala Lumpur, a Golf Course Facility Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation.

“Golf is a wonderful game that helps to cultivate good qualities, namely integrity, honesty, patience, discipline and tolerance; plus encourage youths to socialise within the circle of friends who share a common interest in a healthy and positive environment,” Thielke added.

The JGP is the fourth initiative by TPC Kuala Lumpur that specifically targets youths; following the Rising Star Juniors Programme which is funded by Yayasan Sime Darby specifically for under-privileged youths, the Sime Darby LPGA Golf Development Programme and Junior Golf Tournament.

Taking a step further, the club has been appointing young and dynamic TPC Kuala Lumpur Ambassadors as role models. The Ambassadors represent the success one can achieve with the right support and platform to pursue golf. A shining example is TPC Kuala Lumpur’s Pro Ambassador Gavin Green, the first Malaysian to win the Asian Tour Order of Merit.

Newly added to the club’s list of Ambassadors are Natasha Oon, winner of the 2017 Sime Darby LPGA National Qualifier, Winnie Ng Yu Xuan, winner of the Amateur Category in the 2017 Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia and Yip Sean Yi, winner of TPC Kuala Lumpur Club Championship 2017 Ladies Category.

Thielke said: “Our Ambassadors are trail-blazing in their golf career and we at TPC Kuala Lumpur are proud to provide access and opportunity for them to hone their skills with world-class facilities and services.

“We hope our initiatives will encourage other clubs and the overall golf industry to also develop more junior golf programmes in time to come. We also hope more senior golfers will lend support to develop golf interest among younger golfers via friendly matches or just playing golf for fun.

“The majority of golfers are over the age of 50. If nothing is done to develop the interest in golf among youths, golf and the club industry may face some serious sustainability challenges.”

TPC Kuala Lumpur is offering the annual Junior Golf Pass at an introductory price of RM6,888 (about US$1,750) until March 31.
