My question (for anyone really) . What is wrong with being steep? When I hear people say this it sounds like you have an incurable disease. Or you need to be moved to an secluded island away from proficient golfers .. hahah

Just want to know what is really bad about it ? I’m thinking I’ve been doing this for decades and kinda just deal with it

I finally got my swing filmed. And what I was told from playing partner.I’m very steep, but when he put me in a shallow style downswing.I would almost whiff the golf ball completely and hit some of the worst shots I’ve hit in a long long time. Maybe it’s just in my make up. But I guess now seeing what my swing looks like.I can truly say I’m a steep transition golfer.

I guess the thing that always confused me. Is why I never need a complete ‘overhaul’ lesson when I go fishing? Or when I toss a football or frisbee. Or play on the local softball ? team ?

Why does golf by so many require lessons? Almost like they ingrain it in you. Those other hobbies of mine I’m quite proficient. As so many are. And anyone can pickup a football , softball , fishing line etc .. and be proficient after a very short time of figuring it out on your own. A quick tip or two from friends or colleagues. But golf ?️‍♀️!! No way. It’s a never ending rabbit hole of delusions, false claims of grandeur. One is always told “ you can’t do it that way”. Or so and so says you have to do this or that. Maybe I’m in the wrong generation of in the know crowd per say. But I still believe teach someone the basics. Posture , grip and alignment and let them have at it. And even the basics are negotiable. As many a fine player has one with a faulty grip, posture or setup. So I throw it at you guys? Why is golf so different than any other sport or hobby we love to do for that matter?

Wanted to add. What happened to just swing your swing? Keep your head down/ tempo/ swing in balance etc etc … why was the old school teachers that gave out small tidbits the most effective?

How can anyone in this world of amateur golf play well and enjoy the game trying to implement what is popular now?

It’s odd that this worked for me. I watched the video many times last season and tinkered with it on the range. Would have the feeling of adding that magic move and using it all the way to the follow thru. My feeling matched what he said in the video. And I could swear my club face is wide open for the entire downswing and finish. For the life of me I can’t grasp how I don’t slice it 50 miles to the right. But the more I do it too the extreme. The straighter the ball goes

It’s very odd and counter intuitive. Just this season I got enough nerve to do this on the course. And if damned if works like a charm. Supposedly I’m a very steep swinging golfer into the ball. But I swear I’m adding this move and doing it where the club feels like it never squares up. But the ball goes very straight with even a tad of draw at times. How this works is beyond me

Hope this works. I watched this last year and implemented this with my normally steep swing. It works like a buttery tipped charm

It has too do with the left wrist if you are a right hander.Dustin Johnson and Brooks Kepra are good examples of what it does .
    for your long game.

I remeber reading Hogans book,, but he doesn’t go in to a lot of detail about it.

Commish woill go balls deep in for a box of Furphy. Just saying :-0

What are you talking about ?

It’s just using my way over the top move. But adding forearm rotation opening the club face when I hit the ball. Hitting it a country mile, and straight as a virgin arrow.

I got it guys. I freaking got it
