Bugger I thought they were sounding cutting edge compared to mine.

ParticipantI might be in it but need to know what day and if I can wrangle the day off. Back at work next Monday and know more then.
I did it last year with a few mates – I think we raised around $20K as a team.
They are flexible with the day as it has to fit in with your golf club. We did ours at a country course that didn’t have a lot of traffic on a Sunday so we did it then, the club was fantastic letting other green fee players know to let us through and marshaling for us. If you are playing that many holes you don’t want to come up behind a group of 4 that won’t let you through.
I think they recommend around the 16th December, as it is the longest day, but any day in December is good.

ParticipantBraved the Antarctic conditions on the weekend. Wind was up rain was coming in sideways but I managed to achieve something that I had never done before on my home course – even when I used to be able to play. I pared all 6 of the par 3’s on the course. Never been a strong part of my game but managed it in the wind and rain.
Anyway ended up with 35 points and struck the ball well, just had problems with distance control with anything from under a 100m in. Also major issue with my short game with no par saves when I missed the green from 60m out which happened on more than one occasion.
A counter on my Hçap so down to 11.7. Still a long way to go but heading in the right direction.

ParticipantHey Mads,
Another little thing I liked over at ISG was the EDIT function.
Don’t worry just found it. 🙂

ParticipantTo be honest it ticks a lot of boxes in what we preach about Ageing Well. Moderate intensity exercise, muscle strengthening and conditioning, core stability, flexibility, social gathering/outing. It has been shown to be beneficial in all these which leads to reduced risk of falls, minimization of loneliness and social isolation so there are physical, emotional and mental health benefits.
Would like to delve deeper into the world of golf and bowls clubs but just need to find exactly the right opportunity and partners before pursuing funding.
Haven’t seen any studies on the negative impacts on ageing – like missing the foot long putt. Maybe that should be my angle.

ParticipantHi Mads,
Have meandered over to the new site. One thing that has bugged me is that when you are scrolling through responses and come to the end of the page you have to scroll back up to the top to click through to the next page. (Might be that I am missing something). Other than that the site looks good and uncluttered.
