ParticipantFirst game back after a ruptured Plantaris muscle in my knee/calf (exercise is not good for you) put me out of action approximately 6 weeks ago. Went out for a hit planning on 18, pulled the pin after 9. Struggling with weight transfer and protecting my left knee so everything was going left and a long way left. Working on building confidence back up with some drills at home this week.
Heading down to Port Fairy for the long weekend so hopefully will get out for a hit there – fingers crossed knee holds up.

ParticipantMoving back to the OP. My kids can’t wait to watch this. I applied to be on it with my eldest daughter – did our audition video playing trick shots on the local 9th green………… and then Covid struck and lock down number 2 hit Melbourne (taped Sep/Oct in Qld). Told our audition will be held over to season 2 fingers crossed.
AS for Schitt Creek took a long time to really get into it but worth it in the end. Towards the end was binging 4-5 episodes in a row.

ParticipantCould people in Victoria stop getting Covid. I’m booked on the Spirt of Tassie this week for some camping, wine tasting/drinking, and golf at Barny. Would hate for Tassie to shut the borders to us again.
mate Tassie your free to roam as you pleased which i am surprised as tassies premier is like W.a premier shut the borders yesterday..
as long as you have permit in place ya still would be good to go..
i cant wait till middle of feb as i havent seen none of my family now for nearly 2 years as i want to head home
On our way down there on the Spirit as we speak. Barnbougle here I come.

ParticipantRound at Melbourne Airport Golf Club yesterday with a mate (who happens to be a teaching Pro). Spent the first 5 holes hitting the ball left before my mate gave me a couple of pointers as to what was happening then started hitting the ball right. Something to work on when I get to the range next.
Anyway a disappointing 14 points on the first 9 and 15 on the second nine for a 29 point total.1 user liked this post.

ParticipantTo all our L4G family and friends, I hope 2021 is much better than 2020!
Have a safe and memorable time over the holidays and we look forward to a catch up over golf in 2021
See you all on the other side
I’ll drink to that!!

ParticipantFlagged dropped off after a very ordinary round of Saturday moving away from the year end goal. Shouldn’t be any upward moving of my Hcap for a while though with 7 out of the 8 flags in the most recent 9 rounds. Could platform to hopefully bring by GA back down into single figures.

ParticipantStableford around Beaufort GC. Had an absolute shocker, as an old fart I probably shouldn’t be going to the cricket nets the night before with a few mate. Took 9 holes to loosen up and stop taking divots an inch behind the ball. Par 3’s were awful 9 over for the 6 par 3’s. Total of 27 points and had to struggle and hole some putts to get that – definitely in the bottom half of the results for the day.

ParticipantPlaying with a few mates I grew up with down at The Dunes. Tough conditions with the wind up hit a full 6 iron to a 110m hole and came up short. . one of the par 3’s my mate hit the back of the green about 70 feet from the hole by the time we got there the wind had blown it back towards the hole and ended with a 5 foot birdie putt.
Playing off 10 had 29 points (16pts front 13pts back) and was rapped . A new flag but no change to handicap.3 users liked this post.

ParticipantCan’t have updated since last comp round pre-lockdown. Down from 10.3 to 10.2 (serious movement). Planning a comp round down at the Dunes this weekend so hopefully some movement – just not sure which way.

Participantcourse.
Agree that the course isn’t flash but for someone that only gets out every 5-6 weeks to have a cost effective pay as you play within inner Melb. it is ideal. Also great place to give my girls a taste of golf to see if they like it. If they want to continue on I will sign up to a course but who knows if they will really want to follow through on it.
Selfishly it would be a huge shame to lose it.

ParticipantI just upgraded my 15 year old drive in search of a few extra yards to a Srixon Z785. Went to the range for a side by side comparison and my old Exotics XCG5 (which I picked up on Ebay for $80) outperformed the new driver in length, carry length, ball speed pretty much every stat you could think of.
Goes to show if it is not broke don’t fix it!!
Expect the Srixon Z785 to be on Ebay shortly.
What are the shaft comparisons??

ParticipantNine holes around my old stomping ground of YVCC. Sad to see that while the playing surfaces were great there has been no maintenance during lockdown of the garden beds, hedges, tree limb clearing etc. Indicative a club running out of money.
Struck the ball well, hit greens (5/9 GIR), 1 x 3 putt, 6 pars and 3 bogies for 39 OTS. Room for improvement with a 3 putt bogey and a stupid bogey on the last from A1 position off the tee. 1 legit bogey where I found trees and had come out sideways. That’s privately owned. Nice little track though.
I used to be involved in the golf committee there. Always tough to get management to spend any money there beyond the poker machines. I imagine it has just got harder lately. It was really disappointing to see things like the tennis courts there with weeds growing through it etc. Hopefully they can get things back on track and present the course and facilities the way it deserves.
