I know how many runs you scored last summer?BumpunRun
ParticipantMaybe my highlight of the day will have to be you “complimenting” me for my drive laying up well short of the fairway bunker you thought you had driven into only to find that you were just in a swale 20 or 30m behind my ball! And 70m short of that bunker.
The one where I then put my wedge’s pitch mark a foot short of the pin?
Was there a nearest to the pin on that hole?

ParticipantUsing a brand new ball with freshly cleaned clubs, my first swing back in 6 months was a vicious snap-hook left that hit a house.
Starting the shotgun at Hope Island on 16, I washed that and the 15th for 32 points.
It took me a thousand holes of catching the ball on the toe end and turning it over to realise I should stand a smidgen closer to the ball, resulting in a measured drive of 304m, then a sand wedge to a few feet for a 3 a 4 that helped me a lot.Otherwise I was just so fair dinkum rusty that it didn’t feel comfortable at all.
But, it was the most awesomest enjoyable day with Dad and Weets. Such a fun day at an amazing course. Really loved it all.Subsequent advice from Weets told me that he thought I was standing too upright, which explains the toed shots.

ParticipantIf the weight of the putter is the same. If the length of the putter is the same. If the pace of the green is the same. Isn’t it the person stroking the ball that makes the difference in the length and roll of the ball?
Break80’s theory is along the lines of a lighter putter for fast greens – less weight equals less force needed because you don’t have to hit it as hard, conversely, a heavier putter with more guts should make the ball go further with the same stroke on slower greens… In saying that, it’s always up to you to whack it the right hardness for the length and speed of the putt.
I’ve only had two putters for near on 15 years, but I’m a simple fellow. You are about as simple as Archimedes. I understand what CB was intimating, but no matter what is in your hand as a putter, YOU control what happens. I have two putters as well. Each belongs with it’s own set of clubs. I know the weight, lie angle and length of each, but I do not putt the same with both because of the slight weight difference. I just didn’t get the summer/winter stuff. Does the putter know what season it is??
Oh, and for those that are saying it at home….. Yes, I do putt equally as bad with both.?
I’d say it only matters for those who have a real winter.

ParticipantWeets, I know you love a good start.
It will be 155 days between my last and next game.
That’s 5 months and 4 days
Which works out to be 42.47% of the year.I won’t have a chance to touch the club’s before the game too. Yay.
This post did not age well…
Let’s recalculate it to be 211 days.
Which is 30 weeks or 58% of a year.I had a 20 minute putting session the weekend before last, so I’m primed.
What me now jinx everything again with this post ??

ParticipantWe have heard differently from 3 golfers from other parts of regional Victoria, I met today in on river boat cruise in Mildura, they jumped back and forward across border playing several different courses in NSW, sure they signed in with Pro shop but without even a questions, where you from or other questions like what is you dog or cats name etc.
I tried to book at Rich River for Sunday but told that with Melbourne restrictions easing the time slots are filling fast at all the Murray courses as more golfers head up North.I have filled in my permits on line etc with both Vic and NSW Gestapo so will see how we go on Saturday
During the Victorian lockdown?

ParticipantMy son in law were on baby sitting duty again this morning, so we went up to Heywood for 9 holes.
Sunshine, no wind, but very soggy underfoot. All shots today had zero roll.I started off well , but it didn’t last . I eventually worked out I was holding the driver too close to the end of the grip. Once I choked down a bit, I started to hit decent tee shots. Next I need to work out why I am topping my fairway woods suddenly. I changed my head position a tad to enable me to see the line better and my putting improved. When I did miss , it wasn’t by much. The greens were wet with dew still, so speed control was a bit iffy. Iron shots into the greens were working well at full distance and chipping was getting on the green, closer to the pin.
I played bogey golf +1=46. The crows took 4 balls today. My grandson was impressed by the flock of Kangaroos.
Two steps
1) Better putting
2) better chipping and approach shotsOne step back
1) Unreliable fairway wood strikes/ topping them. Possibly weight too far back. Its a herd of Kangaroos
a flock is for birds
Of course he’s herd of kangaroos, he saw a flocking lot of them

ParticipantStab at Warra yesterday. No comp but handicapped.
No wipes but only four 3-pointers and nine 1-pointers. 31 points
34 putts with a few 3-putts. Greens were uneven near the holes – too many feet on the soft ground.
Weather was good, 10°Overnight?
Or was that the maximum?10° when I started @ 11:30. 1° overnight, 3° for the early starters, a balmy 12° for the max. Yes, it’s winter.
That’s definitely long pants and thick socks weather that is.
