ParticipantIf there’s only one thread for this, we won’t be posting in the wrong one.
Good thought, now stick it in the Practice Range where it belongs.

ParticipantThe start of a New Year brings to a close what was to be achieved by the 31/12/19. Some made it to the set goal, some got real close and others, well they tried. The thing is, you set the goal because you thought it was achievable, lets see if it is. An updated list as of the 1/1/20 with a goal point at 31/3/20 and your final handicap goal for 30/6/20. If the below is wrong, then adjust accordingly and keep on trackin. Feel free to add your name to the list and jump on the train if you are not already there.

ParticipantYou all know the song, but do you really know the lyrics. Sing it loud people, to all the old friends and new, to all the good times passed and those that are yet to come, I raise a glass to all of you and the memories we have and will share in the future. To Auld Lang Syne my friends.
Wishing you all nothing but health, prosperity and everything you all so richly deserve in the coming decade and beyond.

ParticipantI really enjoy the social aspect of the game and getting to play with my son once a week. Other than that, I must have some underlying basic masochistic needs. I mean, what other reason could there be for putting yourself through 4 to 41/2 hrs of mental anguish followed by a further 8 hours of hardly being able to move due to the sore back, knees and calves. Oh and of course there is the ever present opportunity to Drink More Beer!!!!

ParticipantIs there any way to get a ‘new content’ or even a ‘recent discussions’ summary on the main Forum index page?
Going into every sub forum to look for ‘new posts’ is a PITA.
I see the ‘wordpress’ dashboard has it sort of, but that’s a PITA to get into too.
Im sure there must be though web designers are off till New Year. SIU till then;)
Unfortunately Mike I think that timeline might be enough to lose the little momentum there is…
It’s holiday season so people have time to browse forums. Once lost, hard to get back.
The old ISG ‘new content’ summary was the go to for me and I suspect a lot of the others. I use similar on other forms. Some call it latest activity, others recent discussions. Whatever it is called it needs to stand out like dogs balls on the main Forum index page.
I’m also thinking the ‘state based’ sub forums are spreading the content too far. Too many areas ATM to go into to read stuff. Would work if there is a new posts type summary though.
Just my $0.02 while I wait for the roast to cook and the batteries for the RC car to recharge!
Thanks Hack I appreciate your input over the past few months.
This is a self funded site and one that will only “take” off if/when the other site shuts down.
Chicken before the egg scenario as I’m not investing heaps on this site until we know what is happening for sure with former. Even then I don’t have the funds to do a massive upgrade here. Will have to take it in small steps.
I’ll take the feedback from past month and have web team do an upgrade to see if can get better functionality.
Nationals will start ramping up in a couple months and maybe then we’ll see what is a happening with other site.
Happy holidays. See you in the other side!
Why cannot we all contribute to funding the site. Don’t know how much it costs to set up and maintain site like this, but surely we could all throw in the cost of a coffee each month??

ParticipantI think what surprises me most about the forum is the lack of discussion about the playing field, ie the golf course, and the amount (a lot) of discourse about what people scored.
The ISG forum had a specific place for golf course discussion, albeit it wasn’t heavily populated compared to the days/weekend score updates.
Do people care what other people scored? What’s with the obsession with this?
Even more startling is the lack of discussion about tournament/professional golf. Do people care about that at all? We just had the most significant tournament ever held in the country and barely a word.
Do people actually like golf? Or just play it for the score/handicap?Agreed, but that is why some of the guys have there own thread about how they are playing. If you want to read about their golf, you read the thread. If you don’t…. you don’t. Then we have the others who want to tell you about every game they play, what they scored, how many 1-2-3-4 putts they had etc. WGAF.
If the thread .. The Golf Course is used properly, that could be the avenue you are looking for.
There is generally some banter about Australian tournaments, mind you, not a lot in the scheme of things, with some general stuff on the USPGA stuff, very little on the European Tour. I think the majority on here pay attention to what is happening in the professional golfing world, but the forum chatter is minimal because it is possibly more a personal thing. For me, it is just that unless something out of the box happens, I just figure everybody else has watched and nothing to really write about.
I may be totally wrong, but that is the beauty of a thread like this, feedback is very powerful when it is constructive. Well done Hack…

ParticipantTrying to find a swing that doesn’t destroy my lower back, yet produce playable distance and consistency is alluding me ATM.
Broken range session of 10 balls at a time, then collect to stop the over use of my lower back was inter mixed with providing locals knowledge to Weeti and his crew.
I just need to ‘know’ ‘how to power the swing without lower back strain. Going to book in for a lesson and might then follow up on the TGI assessment.
I’ve also been reading a bit of Bradley Hughes swing philosophy and mechanics online. Tried a but if it today, but find any time I think about my hands or forearm rotation i end up with ugly results.
For me, ATM, relaxed, non active wrists and hands with a full shoulder turn seems to give me better results. Powering the downswing then becomes an issue is I start with hips as that crunches my back.
Similar problems and I’m over trying to find the solution.. Let me know when you solve the riddle and what the answer is, because after 5 years of trying to find it, the back gets worse as does the swing. Sometimes I just find that, just let it happen and accept what is about to happen, rather than think about it is more beneficial to the game. Doesn’t help the post game ouches, but the score is often more reflective of not letting it bother me.

ParticipantIn for this event please.
PS Madam,
suggestions for dinner
why not just do dinner at a local pub i/ bistro n area close to the accommodation.that is a back up plan but Commish correct on needing putting Comp green. So maybe bowls club
easy solution just do putting comp after completion of saturday round while everyone is still at course, and before they put their putters and gear away for day.
or have putting comp before start of r3 on sunday.Other option is to have dinner after R3 on Sunday night as a finale to the event.
Harrigans Irish Pub in Pokolbin has been recommended as a good night out.
Harrigans is an overpriced shit hole on a Saturday night and not really conducive to what the Nats Dinner is all about.
