We’ve even heard some manufacturers have taken to retool their demo clubs to a stronger loft than their standard just so they can better compete …

    From here: https://sports.yahoo.com/golf-equipment-truths-iron-faces-113000225.html

    WTF?

    Seriously?

Anyone in the know? Is this for real?

I would suggest if they have put it in print, it is more likely than not, FACT.

Are you suggesting a lack of journalism integrity? Or, just the mere demise in journalism?

No I’m suggesting that they would have checked the libel laws before putting it in print, so the chances are what they wrote is FACT.

Hi, well let me introduce Myself..
David, Live far south of Adelaide, walk down the street to play at SLGC.
Currently playing off 18.9, Not working for now so hope to improve that a bit.
Love the internet for the information and tips
Hate the internet for the Trolls and personal attacks on others

For the reason above, You won’t hear from me very often but I read a lot.
Let’s all play fair and maybe I will contribute as my skill improves…
    David

Hey David, welcome aboard the good ship Goldy pop golf a lot…

Can’t say there’s too many trolls around here, but there are some short ugly looking fellas by all accounts (I’m still learning from the inside jokes and innuendo) …

A lot of the regulars know each other IRL so there’s a bit of sledging and inside jokes. Take it as in good humour rather than as might appear nasty bitchiness.

Tell us more about your golfing exploits etc. Maybe start a journal / journey thread? Or, write up your recent rounds when you play in the “How’d you play this week” thread. And, what’s in your golf gear set up at the moment? Check out the proshop thread on that topic …

The more content to read the better to keep everyone amused at work. I’m convinced none of them work!

Thanks and yes I recognize most of the “in jokes” and Banter, nothing better
I will take your advice and start something

From one David to another… welcome aboard. This isn’t quite the asylum it will become as yet, but give it time. I’m sure you will make for a very good inmate.

What is nearest airport? Local one fly to bigger cities or have to drive in from Sydney or Melbourne?

Regional airport at Albury. You can fly in with Qantas, Rex or Virgin (limited services) form all major centres but it will be hire car from there. 1 hr max to Murray courses.

Ok girls and boys, Fire a few suggestions as to where you’d like to have a trundle next year.

2 rounds are already locked in, the PJ Memorial game on September 18, venue TBC and the Monday game of the Nationals, penciled in for Elanora, will be a part of our revised format, something along the lines of the Vic’s OOM.

Anywhere, anytime…. but that’s just me. If I can be there I will, if not, I won’t. Can we just say it will be on a Sunday and then find some courses that will allow block bookings in the open comps. I say this because majority of courses that allow social play on a Sunday are booked out 12 months or longer in advance.

On a side issue, any feedback on how the Elanora Management felt about the Monday event??

    Hi everybody

Looking at venues for 2021. Some discussion had already about going to Murray River Region which I think would be great and be perfect for 10year celebrations

Which courses are the best to play? Please rank the order.

Also it’s not locked in 100% so am open to an alternative location for this event.

Well I am just back from a jaunt. I can heartily recommend Black Bull – I thought it was a great course.

    Agree 100%

Barenski, you have been noted as being one before… but after today, you are officially a LEGEND. Mate, that was exceptional in every way. If the club accepts the congrats of simple plebs, then please pass on my and Zooey’s deepest gratitude for allowing you to host us today. It goes without saying that those same thoughts are expressed to yourself for even thinking of you fellow ISG flogs as worthy of an invite. LEGEND!!!!!

I can’t believe that they say no cargo pants, it’s like they’re trying to keep poor people away.
Clubs like this will fold by year’s end by limited the clients they take in

Why won’t they think of Tol with this ridiculous inane rules???

It won’t matter, because if Rossdale miss out on Capital, word is they will make a move for an interstate takeover and Elanora is on top of the list. Being the friendly club that they are, cargo’s will probably become mandatory.. THEY, might even allow you to drink beer on course. (:

I’m sure Tochakka if he is over this side yet would probably have the best knowledge of that..OR that other brute the cod catcher if he ever gets to visit.

Well the ball striking wasn’t quite as good today but it wasn’t too bad at Moonah Open. The course was in excellent condition although the greens were surprisingly slow even though they looked schmick.

Finished with 3 over 39 front for 19 and 8 over 43 back for 19 as well so 10 over and 38 points

    9 pars 8 bogies 1 double

8/14 fairways – driver wasn’t too bad today but cost me from a low hook into a bunker on 8 requiring a SW escape

8 GIR – a few poor shots but mostly hit the ball ok. Had a few hooks that made pars difficult but overall not too bad. Dropped 2 shots from a hooked 7i into a bunker left on 13 which left no realistic up and down as the ball rolled way down the hill, a thin PW from the heavy rough on 14 requiring an AW wedge from the same rough next shot. Thin 7i on 15 and hooked 9i on 16 and 17 left extremely difficult pars but I gave the drops to my short game below.

2/8 up and downs – technically 1 bit again 1 was from a bad putt inside 3ft. Dropped 5 shots – 4 from Texas wedges, 1 8i chip on 15 which was a good chip as I was in a difficult position.

36 putts + 4 Texas – dropped 2 shots from a 3 putt (from 60ft at least so the 9i before shares a lot of the blame), and a short miss on 10. Putted much better and made some good second putts after short first putts on the slow greens.

Very happy with the 10 over on a challenging course and got me down to 10.0 handicap.

How does 3 over on the front 9, then 8 over on the back 9, equal 10 over for the round?

Clever accounting of course. It’s what he does..
