ParticipantChopped it up again yesterday for 32pts off the Blues.
A quick update of the journey of me. The family and I have moved out to the rolling plains of Gippsland and set up home on a sprawling acreage in Tynong North.
Start a new role out in May and probably change the home of The iRON Naga to Lang Lang. Might head down there for a hit after Easter.
Life is good and the move took all of March which led to me completely forgetting about playing up on The Murray.
Hope that the L4G crew are doing ok and no one has done a Warnie. Much love MiCK???????

ParticipantWe had our Course – Gardiners Run, rerated halfway through 2021, after the Low Markers at the club complained that the rating gave high handicappers too many shots off the Blue Tees, and was inconsistent with ratings compared to other Golf Courses in Melbourne Metro. The revised rating was introduced in Jan 2022.
Course is a par 72. To be fair the fairway bunkers are not deep and it is open and has very short rough through both first and second cut, under trees etc.
Scratch rating was the big change for White Tee and Blue tee(back tees) with the Whites now 67 down from 70 and the Blues down from 74 to 71. Slope rating didn’t change much at all.
With these changes to the scratch rating it’s now impossible to get a played to your handicap for 36 points off the whites tees.
I had 36 points playing off 17 from the White Tees a week ago and got a played to 19.5, my GA is out to 20.9 and I see no sense in it at all.The Superintendent has made subtle changes to the greens over the last two seasons, introducing more break in the greens through pin placements and improving the surface after coring, building up fringes etc. It plays harder some days, and scores have come down from mid 40’s to high 30’s now winning comps.
Meh. Rant over.NAGA

ParticipantGolf on a nice day with mate at Cowes. Haven’t played there since pennant final in may last year .
tough course as Kikuyu grass just grabs ball making running chips more difficult, really all over place at sorts day 90 OTS = 28 points.
OTS match play we finished square, after being 2 down with 2 to play and finishing par par . Some good golf and some poor golf by our standards, but it was a good sparing session for him as he prepares for upcoming pennant season at his new club
1 TB 4 DB 7 bogeys 7 pars
3×3 putts,
6 GIR
lost 2 vision ballssummary : Should have gone fishing with son in law, as he caught 4 nice flatties in a new spot and now is 7 fish in front of me in the family trophy(even granddaughter has caught more fish than papa so have some catch up to do.)
Next 2 weeks: fish on good days and golf on not good fishing days, baby sit and play with grand children other days
before we leave for QLD for 10 weeks. while house builds-

Can break 80.
I played with an old mate of yours from Lang Lang who now calls Gardiners Run home CB. He is quite the handy golfer, and he put up with all the NAGA stuff form me without too much complaining 🙂 He had 35 points off 6 after I found myself too much wipes for 26 points. Good times.

ParticipantI think I could squeeze it into my busy schedule. With 7 grand kids all living nearby and Rotary Club Presidency commitments I have had a very bust time post retirement. Perhaps I deserve a few days break playing golf with OB and CB80 et.al.

ParticipantSo a month later, some very ordinary stroke rounds followed by a reasonable stableford score of 35pts had my GA blow out to 19. Thought that would be as high as it went, but no.
Gardiners Run decided mid COVID break it needed to be re rated and while the slope rating didn’t change much, the “Scratch Rating” came down two shots of the whites and three of the blues. Sort of makes it ridiculous to play off the blue tees now (you get one shot extra) while off the whites, you lose 4 off your GA.
Most will say its an easy course, and set up to score well on which is true. My daily handicap was 15 with a GA of 19 last game
Had a shocker, and a played to 12 flag dropped off, so my GA is now 20.4 and my daily next week will be 17. Sort of where I want to be, trying to break 90.NAGA

ParticipantPlayed today. Started on 10 and 16 points. Missing a few putts as the weather got beyond my capabilities.
10 on the back for 26 points.
HCP has moved back out to 19.1. Still playing off 17 from the white tees so no change to my daily HCP.NAGA

ParticipantYes rakes are back and play it as it lies. No more placing the ball. Interested to see what you think of the pins out in the corner of some of the greens.

ParticipantI can organise something at the home of NAGA Golf if interested. Just make sure you have the vax.

ParticipantStruggling a bit but yeah man I’m ok. Sort of over the anti vax movement I am married to especially after she got CoVID and still believing it was just a bad flu.

ParticipantFirst two games back after copping 2 weeks isolation because The iRON MAiDEN got CoVID and 30 points last Sunday and a 38 point effort yesterday.
Played off the White tees with a daily HCP of 17.
2 birds on 17 and 5 were highlights.Need to practice. Driving was solid and didn’t hit a decent shot from 120-130m out which was frustrating.
39 won the day so overall a koioim effort. Anyone who has played at Gardiners would be surprised to see how the Super is setting up the greens and the pins now and the Stableford scores rarely get over 40.
Course is as you would expect this time of year just about mintNAGA

ParticipantAlmost.
Played 18 yesterday. Oh my aches and pains.
50/43 so good times. Hit the ball too well and ended up over the back of the green which is about the only miss at Gardiners that can hurt you.Hi Ink. What are you wearing?
