First round back after the Covid lock down in Melbourne

Playing off 15 at Rossdale I had 30 points but was really a tale of 2 nines. Very rusty on the front nine and only scored 12 points, got my grove back on the second nine and had 18 points which could have been a lot better

    Predictions
Once we get to Grand final Dan will start easing off, as people will just do BBQ’s and his once loyal subjects will resent him even more for not allowing this event in Melbourne, even more so if final is between its 2 Melbourne clubs

Melbourne Cup day Dan wants the revenue to state from gambling from this event to pay for all the waste.

Once hot weather comes people will go to the beach regardless of curfew or police fines. Can you imagine what its going to be like swimming at beach with masks on..
.We run campaigns to stop plastic bags cause it might hurt the fish, can you imagine how many face masks there will floating at beach.Lets see if same group campaign against masks at beach.

Opening at end of October will allow retailers to build stock for Christmas shopping

Chairman Dan will step down early in new year to give labor party a chance at a new leader so that when we get to next election Victorian voters will have forgotten

Though I agree with some of the predictions, dealing with the logistics at the moment with planning on getting people back into the office and the feedback we are getting from our parent in the US, while you may feel Dan is is being a Dictator we are being viewed as the an example that others need to follow if we want to restart with out having to go into lock down again.

The problem we are facing s the need to get to a level where the health dept can quickly identify, isolate and lock down future break outs, which will occur and this will take us going to a less than 30 cases day average, or at least that is the number we are using for our planning. Once this is reached the expectation is we will move to level 3 and we can start detailed planning on getting staff back into the office etc.

It is a long haul and not very pleasant but we need to get the health issue under control before we open up or otherwise we will be straight back into lock down again

does anyone know if green keepers are still allowed to work at the greater Melbourne contaminated zone courses..
green keeping is not really really essential service, and I know last time, clubs had to battle to retain the courses.
not mentioned anywhere, but then again haven’t heard clubs screaming.

Advise we are being given is a conditional yes, it appears that a skeleton staff can work to maintain the course to a level, but not the full staff.

I think your sample size is a little small and maybe a little biased. I’m the youngest in my regular group at 53 the oldest is 73 a nd we all like the app a think it has sped up the whole round But I will bow to your great knowledge

    Wombat,

Just a couple of points to consider, o your Phone going to screen saver and you having to open it up every 5 minutes, that is dependent on the app, a number of golf apps now put the phone in always “Awake” when they are opened which will remove this issue. On the older golfers needing more than one pair glasses causing a problem. If they have a relative modern smart phone, last 5 years, they can “zoom” the screen using the finger expand process removing this need for multiple glasses. And if this is a problem if you use the accessibility option in settings you can zoom the screen permanently. I know this as we built an app for Guide Dogs Victoria which used this for the severely vision impaired.

Also, I think you may want to consider the current situation which is probably last into the new year when a vaccine is available, the scoring app will help elevate social distancing constraints by not having to congregate in the pro shop to load the score card in. I understand that you are quick on the uptake on filling in the card and do not make mistakes but I am sure that you have been in the queue in the pro shop waiting for a member to enter the score as the reader did not load it properly or they made an error. The app speeds this up and removes these issues. It is not always about the individual benefit but about the collective benefit to the full field of players

The queue in the pro shop is not a problem.
The problem with this app will be the time it takes for the scores to entered after each hole.
For the past few years golfers all over the world have been crying out for an improved pace of play. A few rule changes have been introduced, less time allowed to look for a lost ball, putting with the flagstick in .
All I can see this scoring app doing is holding up play. Delays in the pro shop will always be there….we don’t want more holdups out on the course.
Everyone I’ve spoken to has said exactly the same thing.
I’m sure in 50 years time when all us oldies are dead and gone it will work…..but by then your ball will probably have transmitters to send the score straight to the pro shop computer when it hits the bottom of the hole.

Working in the IT industry consulting on Bussiness improvement and process improvement you may be the exception. The mode model for this including card processing at the end of the round indicates up to a 20% time saving across the board.

Admittedly the majority of this is processing of TV e card at the end of thy e round removing manual entry etc. it also reduces the overhead on the pro shop in processing comps.

I hate to say it but it will be the way of the future, digitalisation is coming to all walks of life and COVID has jus accelerated the process

Well, I do not seem to be as bad as some but just can not quite get a full round together, 34 points, 35 points and 1 down in par have been reasonable but the 11 down in par first round back a pure c***

Note 34 pts was playing off 13 off the white tees and the others were off 15 off the blues

He has an honary membership at KH. He is a paid up member somewhere else.

Apparently he is a golf tragic, might be going harder on golfers to avoid appearance of bias.

I think he is a paid up member at Huntingdale
