First round back yesterday with a unsurprisingly poo like 25 pts!!! A mixture of push cuts, thin irons, fat and bladed chips and pitch shots! The only thing that resembled my game before this whole mess was my ability to 3 putt from just about anywhere.
Managed 7 pars and 5 bogies mixed in with 6 wipes and 4 lost balls.

can’t wait till Saturday………..

Said it before and I’ll say it again…. the putting on this site is farkin ridiculous. Just one example for the current tournament. Hole 1 a Par 5, on the green for 3 with a 25′ putt to pin. Set it for 30′ and full strength and the putt goes 6’5″. WTF… then notice that the greens are extra slow2. Next putt is 19′ so set it to 60′ and give it 100%, ball goes 14′.. 6′ to go so on 15′ strength, give it 100% and it goes 3’9″. and finally in the hole 5 putts later. Same result nearly every green, but generally a 4 putt. Not being a seasoned tour pro or Master like some other members, it is very frustrating when you are on the green in reg or less and walk off with minimum of a double boge or worse each hole. 2 pars and 1 bird in 18 holes when each green is reached in reg or less. Drive a par 4 and walk off with a 7. grrrrrrrr. Spleen vented. Time for a beer.

Mind you my score of 98 factually represents how my golf is at present, so there is that.

Putting is hard specially Championship and Super slow!! WTF. But I recon the hardest part is short bunker shots, I don’t know how many times i,ve left it short in the pot!!

Pennant at East Geelong today,

Won 2up with a chip in on the last!! Big breaking down hill chip shot from side on, flopped it on and let it run down to the hole Tiger style!!
Eventful day was made to putt from less than a foot below the hole dead straight. Said to him so that’s the way its going to be is it…………we didn’t speak for about 5 holes.
Then was accused of moving my ball on the fairway cos he thought the ball was lying in a different spot!! This from a guy that is known for taking preferred lies and not being able to count!!
Fair to say I had steam coming out my ears for a few holes.

rant over we won 41/2 – 21/2

Wondered down to the range at 13th on Friday working on my takeaway and transition. Playing around with different positions in the takeaway until i found one which gave me a good consistent strike and ball flight. Felt pretty good after the session but once again it didn’t really translate into a decent round when it counted!!

Followed Ogilvy on Sunday morning and you could see his frustration at the slowness of the greens. Couldn’t get his chips to run out etc Then he 4 putted and pull hooked two balls in the water on 10.?

The greens are pretty slow atm, was talking to my mate who’s a green keeper down there and they’ve had issues with them coming back after a reno. Weather has played a part. They were very sandy when I played there a couple of weeks ago.
