40 points and owerall WIN in South vs West event at Leongatha GC.
Leongatha is one of the best courses in South Gippsland and one of my favourite courses, where I usually play well.
good scores hard to ocme by and have to treat course with respect..

8 pars + 10 bogeys – no outs just solid.
good lead in to pennant in 2 weeks time.
happy times, nice group and good feed at end.
despite my best effort WEST won the trophy for one year.

Well done CB. My effort wasn’t so good, just 25 points which was near the average. Wests won by the tiniest of margins, something like 0.02% based on average score. I hadn’t played there for many years and the deceptive breaks in many greens caught me out, along with too many crap shots. Souths should have won with their course familiarity .

Flagpole (stroke) at Beacy yesterday. Warra still being used for Super 6.
I made it as far as the 2nd last green before running out of strokes. The winner made it to the last green thus winning a ham.

how does flag pole event work ? never seen that one before.?

It’s a handicap stroke event where a ‘flagpole’ ( large ntp marker) is carried by the leading player until he/she runs out of strokes. It is then carried by others until they run out of strokes. Whoever carries it the furthest, typically somewhere on 19th or 20th wins the event. We do it for xmas and the winner gets a ham.

Down to Langy yesterday as Warra is closed to us plebs for the Super 6 this week.
The bunkers were the worst I’ve ever seen them. No sand and what was there was the consistency of wet clay. Almost impossible to get out of. Even with a 60° with 4° bounce, the club would still rebound off the base and blade the ball into the wall. Good thing I was already having a crap round when I hit a bunker on the 8th. Stroke round so I had to persist in trying various methodologies to extricate out of it. Large puddle of water in the bottom didn’t help. Another bunker on 9.

In stab terms, I had 9 points on the front, then 19 on the back.

MM at Beacy yesterday. Course has dried nicely and was in good condition. Front nine fairways are being re-done so our course was Hills back 9 then Lakes.
I only had one stab wipe after losing a ball. Stroke was nett 70 (36 points), 32 putts (two 3-putts). Medal winner had 69. If only I had one less stroke, I’d have got him on countback. But that’s golf.

I should mention that Warragul is in fantastic condition, picture perfect, no soggy spots.

38 points yesterday at home of golf. recently undertook a training program to improve 4 shots in 4 weeks.
So far the putting is better, chipping consistent if I use less loft, and pitching now getting on greens from 70m by using pitching wedge instead of thrashing a 56 deg, and now able to getting out of bunkers first time.
good game tune up for next weeks vet game at Korumburra

Is Korumburra a soggy quagmire, like most of Gippsland, or nice & firm? What day is the vets event?

    Ok. Stab at Warra yesterday. 33points, 33 putts, both 16/17. 16 putts = 17 points, 17 putts = 16 points.
I’ll play Olinda’s MM at Beacy on Sat. Undecided about next week, Warra is being taken over by PGA Super Six. Might play Drouin or Lang Lang, or might just have the week off.
I’m supposed to be doing prehab exercises in prep for next year’s hip surgery, but everything is too sore after a golf day. One day’s rest then golf again.

    Stroke last Saturday, nett 76.
    Stroke today. Nett 81.
Some nice sunny breaks, interspersed with rain and tiny hail. Putts wouldn’t drop. Heaps of lip-outs, three 3-putts, total 38.

    Why do I bother?

Surely you hit that one shots that made you think that you can do it.? The “come back” shot. The one that lures you back for another humiliation session.

I’m still playing golf, but not bothering to record them here. You’re the only person reading them.
My last two rounds (yesterday and the day before) were both 31 points. Consistent crap, nothing of note.

Stab at Warra yesterday. 30°, gentle breeze, a bit sticky.
Just more of the same for me. A couple of 3-points, one wipe, one 3-putt.
31 points, 35 putts. If I’d kept my putts down to 30, I’d have had 36 points.

Stab at Warra yesterday in high 20s temp. It’s been so long since I played in a bit of heat, it felt hotter.
How’d I play? Two 3-points, two 3-putts, one wipe, heaps of 1-points. Total 28 points with 34 putts.

After nearly two weeks of regular rain which kept me off the course, it was all systems ‘GO’ yesterday. Temp in low 20s, no wind, dry course.
Round 1 of clubbies and MM, stroke. No blowout holes but I did have a few 7s, one of which wasn’t a par5, and one 3-putt. But nothing better than a bogey all day. Total was nett 79. 34 putts didn’t help.

Forecast suggests it might be raining next Saturday, so I might not bother with round 2.

My hip wasn’t much of a problem playing the Vets on Monday. Perhaps having 3 days off from golf was good for me.
So I followed it up Tuesday with the usual stab at Warra and had little hip pain.

Started poorly with a couple of 3-putts. After 3 holes I had amassed 8 putts and just 2 points. Not good when I’m trying to have points exceed putts. Other than a miserable failure on the 6th where I guessed 2 putts (ran out of shots just getting the ball to stop on the green), the rest of the front nIne was ‘normal’. Total 16 putts, 15 points. That’s almost a recovery.
Back nine better with a couple of 3-points and a 4-point and a heap of 1-putts. Total 13 putts, 21 points.

That’s 29 putts and 36 points all up. The number of putts is just for me with my little points vs putts comp. But the 36 points won me some money for a change (2nd in C grade).

For all of you battling the weather, we again had no rain at all, none of the previous day’s wind and around 20°.
