I finally got another game of golf in after some minor surgery a few weeks ago. More surgery on Tues will probably put me out of golf for another few weeks. My right hip is still interfering with my swing and it probably won’t get replaced until next year.

So, how’d I play? Not well, but could’ve been worse.
No wipes but lots of 1s, no 3-points. Total of 27 points. One 3-putt and only a couple of 1-putts for a 35 putt total.

    I won B grade yesterday!

This morning I went out for my pre-breakfast work out clearing the sweet pittosporum from the 12th hole rough. I am making windrows to burn as they dry out. On the way back to the car park I often play a couple of holes. Today I wanted to see if I could get better results with the Tour Edge Hybrid-iron 29 degree club. It is a super game improvement design with a fair bit of offset. I tend to hit it left too much. my distance control is good but lateral dispersion is poor. I set up at 135m out from the pin and hit a few shots , until I felt I had some control. Time will tell!

You won B grade with 35 points?

    Vets at Trafalgar yesterday.
Whilst my hip wasn’t particularly painful, it produced just enough discomfort to bugger up my swing.
Add to that the fact that the course had been set for MM on Sat with back tees and some difficult pin positions, freshly mown and rolled greens. You put your ball on the green and it would turn dowhill and run right off. Very frustrating. With 91 players, only a few managed 36 points. The weather was fine and the ground was mostly dry. My cart passenger and I both had 30 points. That was 15 each.

As for today’s surgery, the bandages would suggest my head had come to grief in some farm machinery. But it was just some cancer removal from one ear. Back again next week then some restoration work to follow. Thanks for the good wishes.

what number were you on the waitlist before you played golf with him?

You don’t get onto the wait list until you’ve been assessed. First available appointment to get assessed is early July, set last Feb.
I’m in for surgery on Tues to have a skin cancer cut out. Was assessed by a skin specialist in Feb and details sent to the hospital the same day and marked urgent (category 1). It took more than two months to get an appointment with the hospital, last Wed week. They took a biopsy. Next appointment was last Wed. They confirmed cancer, THEN put me on the urgent list.

It’s all about list manipulation so things don’t look as bad as they are. Off to get a swab test this morning.

Didn’t play yesterday. Vets game on Monday. Surgery on Tues.

    Stab at Warra yesterday.
Despite the promise of thunderstorms and hail, it was fine and mostly sunny, but not very warm like it had been recently. The winter weather has arrived.
    Points: 20 out, 13 back, 33 total. 31 putts.
It only takes a slight niggle from the buggered hip to throw the swing completely off.

I feel your pain. I am due for a replacement op later in the year

I’m half way through a 4 month wait for an appointment with the specialist, even though I played golf with him a few weeks ago. Then, I get onto the bottom of his wait list. He mentioned that he had 380 on his public wait list and does 14 a week. So I might be waiting until next year.

Pennant match at Mirboo North today.
Nice mild weather, max around 20°, no rain, ground dry.
    Started on the 18th. I had to give 4 strokes (on 8, 9, 10 & 18).
I had a win on 18 and was 3 up after 4. Then the wheels fell off.
Finished with a miserable loss of 5&4.

The course was in much better condition than the last time I played there. Now well worth a visit.

Stab at Warra yesterday. Another warm sunny day.
    A 3-putt on the 6th (18 index), and on the 9th. But a good collection of 1-putts. 16 out, 15 back for 31 total.
No wipes. Five 3-points helped. 18 out, 19 back for 37 point total. That trimmed another .4 off my ‘cap.

Stab at Warra on Tues, great weather again.
Had a reasonably good round with 18 out, 17 back for 35 points.
I had a chip-in on the 3rd but countered that with a 3-putt on the 13th. That 13th gave us all grief with all 4 in the group 3-putting. Overall, 31 putts.
Knocked a few more points off my ‘cap.

Stab again today, then pennant match on Sunday.

Stab at Warra yesterday in perfect golf weather.
Mr Consistency on the front nine with 2 putts on every hole. 18 putts, 18 points.
A bit of variety on the back. A lovely billiards in-off chip in on 11, but a couple of wipes too. 16 putts, 15 points.
