With Warra’s greens being cored yesterday (at least that was the plan), some of us ventured south to Korumburra today.
The fairways are fairly wide but everything, inclding the greens, slopes at significantly oblique angles to create a challenge to everyone. One must be able to direct every shot precisely. If you spray it, you lose it. The 9-marker in our group had a shocker of a day.

So, how’d I play? Not so well. 13 out, 17 back in for a 30 point total. I managed one 4-pointer and a few 3-points. But I had some wipes, a lost ball, a drowned (but recovered) one and other stuff-ups.

The fairways are currently being converted to santa anna, so they are patchy. But will be great when grown in.

I have achieved my eoy goal with an index of 17.0

    set new goals

    Or, you know, don’t.

I suppose I could, having received an upward boost of 7%.
I’ll think about it, or not.

Well there were a few drops during the round today, to the point where the lightning alarm forced us off the course for 40 minutes or so.

The course was nevertheless in very good conditions and the greens are still firm. The bunkers though were GUR which required a few lob shots over them which cost me a couple of shots. The last few I hit ok though so that was something.

I was off 12 (for some reason despite the SR being 73 so I should have got 13). I had 17 off the back and 18 off the front. 2 pick up wipes were the real disappointment for the round. A 2ft birdie putt on that hole 9 was the highlight.

1 birdie 8 pars 5 bogies 3 doubles (1 pick up) 1 triple (pick up)

12 fairways – great stat but the fairways are very generous but I drove it pretty well. Dropped 1 shot from hitting it into the trees.

9 GIR – actually a pretty solid result and if it had a decent short game I could have had a good score.

1/10 up and down – terrible short game performance on the first hole 10, and on 17, and on 5 were very frustrating. Dropped 9 shots here: 3 LW 3 PW 2 5 iron and 2 Texas – only 1 Texas up and down.

35 putts – 1 3 putt and didn’t miss any short putts but didn’t give myself many short putts for up and downs either. Putter was ok but nothing exciting.

Reasonable round but the short game was shit

Dropping a 7.8 vs what will probably be a played to 12 so I will.go out a bit.

Short game killing you… Be off singles if not for it?

What’s the plan to fix it?

Edit: and yes, what’s with the new system not giving the DSR adjustment. Have the same thing at my home track. Still giving me a daily of 20. Grrr.

The DSR is now a PCC and is applied after all is said and done, affecting the ‘played to’ and hence also your new handicap index.

If he starts posting about every putt he misses, I reckon it’ll impinge on mine.

As I miss about as many as I make, it would impinge on everything, including my sanity.

I missed a foot long putt today – the little bastard just turned right away.

OB how did that make you feel? would you like to talk about it?

Do you think this has impinged on your health in any way??

Maybe I should do follow up qualitative interviews with golfers, could get interesting.

I was briefly annoyed, no , no and no.

    Pennant match today at Trafalgar.
    I won 3 & 2, team won 5:nil

My opponent had to give me 5 shots, 3 of which I won without the extra shot, 1 I lost despite him giving me a shot, and that leaves just one of the 5 making a difference.

    Agg stab at Warra today.
    15 & 15 = 30 points.
Two wipes, two 3-putts, four 1-putts, one chip-in (for 4 points).
That’s the last flag off for some weeks. Probably won’t get a shot back.

As a matter of interest, exactly what is it you dont understand,by that,i mean can you give me an example what it is you cannot follow? im not on a recruitment drive ,just wanting to know what bothers people so much about TGM,im hoping its not just handed heresay, but actual proplems reading the yellow peril cheers

The last part of your last sentence sums it up pretty well. My responses are definitely not a dig or misguided attempt at rubbishing the teaching of TGM. I guess it all boils down to “I’m too farkin lazy to take the time to try and truly understand all the technical components of the book.” Obviously a brilliant mind, but one that I gave up on trying to match. Plus, as stated before, I simply do not have the mindset to put in the practice that TGM requires. I guess if I truly wanted to be a single figure golfer I may exert the extra effort, but I fear I would be dead before that remarkable achievement could take place. I shall remain a happy hacker attempting to play a consistent form of golf off my current 15 Hcp. My goal is to try and get back to where I was
40+ years ago playing off 12. That will do me.

That is not to say that I am not open to golfing tips that may improve various parts of my game. Provided, for me, if they are simple in explanation and come with a visual description as well for ease of comprehension. I feel I learn better from being shown how something works and having the stages explained to me as they take place. That way I can at least attempt to mirror that which is being shown and explained. The one thing I do understand and try to keep in my game is the Flat Left Wrist concept.

I agree 100% Commish. While I have a technical or analytical mind, to me the golf swing is all about feel. The swing happens far too quickly without high speed photography to analyse it. Having said that, I’m sure such analysis could help with regard to lag and release.

I am Brownies’ age but, like you, quite happy to be out there playing golf for the fun of it without the hassle of trying to get another iota of performance, unless I happen across a magic tip. I don’t need to be off single figures.

    Stab at Warra yesterday.
    Played crap.
    12 out, 15 back for 27.
    Four 1-putts, but three 3-putts. Wipes, 1-points, only a couple of 3-points.
I was doing alright on the back, 2-pointing everything, until a 1-point on 16 and a wipe on 17.

I lose a flag on Saturday, then 7 non-flags to scrape off. Pennant starts on Sunday.

    74m

I get it out there, baby.

    That is GPS validated folks

And it handed me one of life’s greatest moments – getting to see the Goldman run after his ball to try and hit it before we could measure it

    Pricelesa

That happened at a BHIC as well, but I got the laser measurement.
With my fading memory, I’ve forgotten who the unfortunate player was.

Just found out when I go back to my home club for club champs in a couple of weeks I’ll be off 4……….I’ll just let that sink in? That’s 5 shots I’ll loose!
    Slope 113

Their ACR is 5 under PAR ?

    par 69, scratch rating 67.
Just what came up with when I punched it into GA site

Then you’ve only lost 2 due to WHS, the rest are your doing. Well done!

Stab at Warra today, off a lower 15 handicap.
    16 out, 19 back for a 35 total.
    Two wipes, one 4-point birdie from a chip-in, five 1-putts, no 3-putts.

Only four scores in the 40s, five 39s and heaps of 38s and 37s. The 2 shot reduction seems to have had a minor effect.
