ParticipantStarted looking at accommodation and staying at the Vintage is the best option probably. Pretty expensive though. Anyone keen to share?
You may wish to wait until it is decided where the Saturday night dinner is going to be held.
Maybe. But staying close to the course when there’s a 0740 am tee off on Sunday is probably not a bad idea anyway I’m thinking…

ParticipantAle and Rioja done and dusted. Almost time for the single malt. Maybe there’s time for another beer though?

ParticipantI’ll have a Cricketers Pale Ale in about 45 minutes please. And a glass of Rioja with dinner. Possibly two fingers of Laphroiag after the kids have gone to bed.

ParticipantThanks everyone for coming down to the Gong! Great seeing some familiar faces and some new ones (for me at least.)
Very disappointed that no one managed to hit one into “the worlds largest bunker” on the beach holes… 😉

ParticipantYou did get two nearest to pin though! As did I. The rest of my game was only slightly better than yours though with my worst round at WGC ever. 25 points. The only club that was even close to cooperating was the driver. Everything else was shit.

ParticipantIt’s a beautiful morning in the Illawarra and the tension is palpable as the best NSW golfers from L4G are descending on the historic Wollongong Golf Club.

ParticipantPlayed this morning. No preferred lies anymore. There’s a few spots where your can tell the course was flooded three weeks ago but overall it’s in very good condition with lush fairways and excellent greens!

ParticipantSome tips for first time visitors:
* There’s no driving range, however there’s a couple of warm up nets around the back of the club house.
* Many of the greens have a fair bit of slope and they break a lot. Holes 1-5 are the old greens and are usually a bit slower than 6-18.
* Don’t hit a high slice off the tee on 7. You might kill a gerry on the balcony of the IRT retirement block of units.
* The rough is pretty much non-existing so if you’re going to lose any balls it will be in the dams or on the beach. 😉
* There’s no half way house, if you want to get some refreshments we pass by the club house between holes 5 and 6.
* The holes farthest from the club house have a very nice view of the waste water treatment plant and the Port Kembla steel works. 😉 However, the views from the 2nd, 3rd, 13th, 16th and 17th tees are to die for. Golf doesn’t get any more “Linksy” than that with the beach right next to the tee box.
* And most importantly: After the club house renovations there is an excellent selection of craft and domestic beers on tap!Looking forward to it!
